Yes we know this guy. Please tell him thank you and that we miss him. His car looks beautiful. Thanks for the note Mario! Bill FL
Sorry to hear that Terry, Fabio made the Maranello Chat even more colorful with his well experienced knowledge.
I'd imagine it wouldn't be too hard to make the parts from the 550 work on the 456. Fabio's 575 sounds absolutely mental with the 6-1 headers. Best sounding 550/575 on the planet in my opinion. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8F9aqAGuWo[/ame]

Tim, you have the photos backward, entering the Karusell should be the first of the Karusell photos, eh? What was your speed in that turn? (First time I ran the Nordschleife was in July 1960 in a Peugeot 403 - terrifying!)
I've attended two three day driving schools at the Nordschleife in 1977 and 1978 put on by BMW using their cars. I remember lining up with a pine tree on the distant horizon because you couldn't see the proper entrance to the Karusell before you got there. That was 40 years ago. Wonder if that pine tree is still there.
Dave, are you sure with the pine tree? They are usually not growing in our northern climate in Germany. Very common in Italy but not in the rough climate in the Eifel...
Yes the pictures are backwards. This year I only drove 41 laps and 2 laps with my Rolls Royce ... I always drove so sure it was still safe. not faster than 9 min BtG. I have no Semislicks, only Michelin Supersport Pilot 2. Should look in my videos the speed after, but I had to drive carefully because I have been upwards before the cooling water drain screw was damage and leaking. Hope that next year I can drive with my F512GTB there. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jurgen, I'm not at all sure it was a pine tree, I believe from it's appearance it was an evergreen tree, triangular in shape, kinda like what I think of as a pine tree. I remember it stood out above the other trees on the horizon, which was the next ridge across the valley. There were several zimmers to the right of the main gate, past the garrages, we stayed in one of those the first year then the next year we stayed in a hotel between Breidsheid and in Adenau. Our balcony looked out on the track coming down the hill and there was a night race going on. I remember watching the headlights coming down the hill. On the second trip I bought a 78 911 SC at the factory, drove it around for awhile then back to the Ring where we stayed in the old Sporthotel. It was weird thinking of how many of my heroes had stayed in the same room, there were only 28 rooms I believe. We went down stairs to the bar and the manager of the ring was having a birthday, as you know it's customary for him to buy drinks instead of our tradition here of buying the birthday boy drinks. So he bought us a drink. I then went out to the Porsche where I had a bottle of Jack Daniels I had bought in Duty free for later consumption. Instead I gave it to the bartender with instructions that it was just for the manager, can't remember his name now. In return he gave me a "Tageskarte", A day pass for as many laps as we wanted the next day. The other pic is of a speeding ticket I got on the way to Koln. Had to pay on the spot. Dave, thank's for sharing your golden memories, it sounds, like you had a great time here. Visit the Nürburgring once a year for the Oldtimer Grand Prix, one of the greatest Classic Car Events here in Europe. Additionally, there is the Porsche Europe Club Meeting at that date and numerous other car clubs use the event to meet at the Ring (…including the Ferrari Deutschland Club). Think, it was one of your car experiences of a lifetime... Picking up a new Porsche at Zuffenhausen, put some miles on it and drive it at the Nürburgring. Unfortunatlely, the Ring and the atmosphere there has changed during the recent years... :-(
Beautiful "Superamericana" like says my dad who loves the car but never recalls the correct name. https://www.facebook.com/stylenl/photos/a.1112241138888674.1073741909.420078951438233/1114909068621881/?type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/stylenl/photos/a.1112241138888674.1073741909.420078951438233/1114909491955172/?type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/stylenl/photos/a.1112241138888674.1073741909.420078951438233/1114909528621835/?type=3&theater
