Hi Folks, New to FerrariChat and a Ferrari "virgin". Recently acquired this killer 22k-mile 2000 550 in Nero Daytona/Cuoio. It's a fantastic example, runs/drives/looks superb. The car needs nothing except new tires, which are being mounted as we speak (Michelin PSS). Couldn't be more thrilled and privileged to own this magnificent machine! I'm also impressed with the quality of this forum, in particular the individuals who "live" here. I'm a life-long car nut, have owned numerous high performance and collector cars over the years, and this 550 is the apex to me (at least so far). So much to learn about these cars, and I've already learned a ton thanks to all of your excellent and informative posts and discussions. Cheers! Congrats on your new baby. That car is like you say, a killer 550 with those specs... My first Ferrari was black, and it will always be the most "bad boy" and raw looking color. Mixed with couio, it is just right. Mine had green interior. Also cool, but not exactly my first choise. The 550 is a perfect car. Overbuild by normal quality standards, and suprisingly fast compared to several of the later models.. They use to manage 325+ kph. on the speedo. Try that in America!! Be careful where you park it. If it is pure original, it is "a shame" to repair it. These cars will only go up in value. The number of cars still alive is probably a lot less than the total production. I see them nowhere on the streets in Europe or America. It makes it feel even more fortunate to own one. Good luck, and welcome to the club
Welcome to Ferrari-chat ! You could not have made a better choice the 550 is a magnificent automobile. Wishing you many many miles of happiness Cheers, Bill
Well, I think that qualifies as a successful first post! [emoji3] Gorgeous 550. Enjoy the heck out of her. T
OK, virgin, lovely car, most likely much better than you deserve. But you have to tell us where you're located - is that NE for northeast or New England? otherwise the FChat Maranello posse is coming after you. Goodnight Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are........... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWN97q7xtDE
Very nice. I looked to see if they had the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, the replacement for the MPSS, in sizes for Maranellos with 18" wheels. Unfortunately, they do not. You will love the MPSS tires, though, same thing I have fitted.
Thanks guys for the warm welcome! NE = the great State of Nebraska. The car came out of Atlanta. It was originally sold in Long Island, spent it's first 3-4 years there and then North Carolina until about 2012 or so, then back to NY, then sold to a dealer in ATL. We are the 3rd private individual owner(s). When I say "we"...I own it 50/50 with a friend. We started building a small collection of cars last summer with a '70 & '95 911. We had planned on a few more cars, but decided to pursue a Ferrari and sort of shot our wad on the 550. For awhile at least. Worth every penny!!
She is surely shot-wad-worthy, to rephrase a Seinfeld-ism. You will love her. Nebraska, I surely shoulda known, as I am actually an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska, evidenced by a beautiful certificate of my commission, signed by Governor Robert Kerry, and hanging on a wall in the den. When I was a boy, traveling on the Union Pacific 'Portland Rose' west from Council Bluffs along the North Platte River to a summer working on a ranch in Idaho, before the creation of Lake McConaughy, the State had no navigable water capable of floating a 25' keel sailboat, let alone a vessel remotely worthy of belonging to a Navy.

Did you get arrested? That's not a very nice thing to do to a beautiful car! Sorry, but I am afraid my mind works that way Seriously, congratulations on your purchase, which looks absolutely lovely, and welcome to the club.
Congratulations on your beautiful 550 Maranello and welcome to the forum. You'll find this forum to be an excellent resource for pretty much any info you need to research or diy projects. Drive it often and in good health.
Well aye-aye there shipmate! That make two of us! My certificate of "commission" is buried in a storage box somewhere. Will have to dig it out. Fun tonque-n-cheek momento and conversation starter. Doubt we'll be getting a pension for our "service" though. 😂!! We think alike, then. Oh, and thanks! Thank you! I agree this forum is an excellent resource and I do intend to drive my "new" Maranello as often as possible!
