Any of you guys ever re-dye your interior? Mine is looking a bit (actually more than a bit) tired and worn. I've seen the leatherique website, and some of the before/after shots and videos. That looks like something a DIYer can accomplish and get good results. Thanks Sid
Mine has been re-dyed, it looks great in pictures, but it needs some more TLC as the leather is like cardboard, have been putting coat after coat of leather conditioner on it, slowly coming around, but still need to have it done again.
did you do the re-dyeing yourself? If so, would you say it was easy and worth it? I'm curious about peoples experiences. The leatherique website makes it look easy. However, I've never done anything like this before, and am a bit skeptical. Leatherwork just doesn't seem like it would be easy while getting good results. Sid
Sid, Have a read and look... Good luck, Greg http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/mondial/377783-leather-dye-before-after-pics.html

Originally, my car was red/tan, judging by the red spots in wheel wells. When I got it, it was metallic black with a dyed smoke-gray interior. The interior looked really good, color-wise, in the photos, but when I got it, the dye was wearing off, especially on the drivers seat, revealing the tan underneath. Also, the previous owner put a wet car cover in the back seat causing the leather to harden, rip, shrink, and completely expose the foam and frame underneath. The first thing I did with the car was an engine out, and the second was change the interior. White leather, black carpets, and I was told it would cost more to reproduce the pleat in the headrests, as opposed to embroidering a computer graphic of the cavalino. Unfortunately, I can't find the before pictures. I'd post them too. Regards, Brian Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looking great guys. Will be taking the car out this Sunday for the 1st time this year. Hope to get some fresh pics.
I see the interior shot from my car was already posted. I've got German square weave carpet á la the 911 R Gruppe folks, the Competizione shift knob and the Cavallino wheel. But jeez the seats in these cars are uncomfortable. Just looking at these pictures makes my back ache. And I really wish the gauges were more vintage styled, as opposed to flimsy plastic. Hi gang, On page #1 of this thread, I showed Rachel's Daytona seat treatment. But I don't remember ever showing her floor mats. So - - - - Cheers, Hank Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Greg, Over the years, folks have asked "George, what do I do with my idea for - - " oh wait, that's a commercial. Actually , I'm constantly asked, "why Rachel" - - you do know the answer to that one - right? But, in this particular thread, I'm not understanding why you're asking for a dime. She's not "my car" or "my Ferrari" or "my Mondi" or "my wheels" or "my ride". She's Rachel. Call me crazy, but even my seat belt mice have names - - meet Melvin and Kelvin. Cheers, Hank
Yes of course I know the answer Hank as she used to have the same last name as me when she was married to Rod...
My seats were showing a lot of grey and crackling, especially at the seams and corners. Some pieces were bleached out and the colors no longer had the same hue. Here's a pick of my Dante just back at the end of march from a retint. Every dash and door piece was removed and the console and the seats. They dyed each separately outside the car. They even redid the housing on the emergency brake. All for $650. I thought it a great deal and now everything matches again. I am very happy. My garage guy did say to avoid using leather cleaner on it as it will take off the color. As far as leather conditioner, I'll have to ask. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Here is my all black interior, nicely leatheriqued pretty much like new with a subtle patina. The original owner and Swiss dealer told me this 1988 Mondial 3.2 Cab came with this t style steering wheel. Might make sense as the Swiss model had a cat, more sound deadening and a nice blaupunkpt stereo among other touches for that market, so maybe the safer padded wheel made sense even if dealer installed, although I have never heard of another 3.2 with this wheel. The stereo is really interesting, has a chip based credit card like insert that you remove and makes the stereo useless to a thief, also some autoshift functions that move to the new radio stations as you cruised through Europe from country to country. Also a CD unit, must have been a top line item in its day, still sounds really good for the rare time I am not just listening to the flat plane crank music. Also has the billet corsa vent acquired through an f chatter years ago, and the machined aluminum console plate. Nice place to spend some driving time! Image Unavailable, Please Login
