Sorry to be so obtuse but what car is that? From looking at the wheels it looks more modern than say a 1930s SSK Merc? Beautiful automobile...
It’s a 1965 Excalibur series 1 factory supercharged. 327/400hp supercharged shortened Studebaker chassis w/corvette running gear. 2,200 LBS. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
It’s super fun. It still has ancient tires on it. So I haven’t driven it to the end of its capabilities. But from everything that I’ve driven so far, it’s very exciting very well mannered and confident inspiring. It’s nothing like a prewar car. I was surprised at how well mannered it was. When I was in my early 20s a person that I knew had one non supercharged and I remember going for a ride and thinking how great and exhilarating it was. I was really into midyear Corvettes at the time. I’ve never been able to get that experience out of my head. Once I get through tuning it up and getting tires on it etc I’ll report back but so far. It’s a two thumbs up wild ride. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Over the holiday weekend my other car was the best car which is always a rental! Over 1k in 3-days Portland to Astoria then the 101 to San Jose. Epic coastal oregon sights. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Do you have and 'midyear' Corvettes in your collection? My favourite the 1968 coupe with the 427 but that is not to everyone's taste. Midyear guys generally don't like C3's... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I do not. I have owned many through the years but none in the last 20+. Almost bought a fully loaded 65 327/365hp ac red/red roadster that was for sale for a while but couldn’t get myself to pull the trigger. I had a 67 327/350hp power steering power brakes with side exhaust roadster a long time ago that I still pine for. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The 1965 with the 365 HP rating being a 'solid lifter' motor is a rare combination with A/C. Chevrolet briefly again 7 years later offered that A/C combination for the last time with the solid lifter LT-1 motor for just 1972 Corvettes. Solid lifters were banned after that on C3 Corvettes. Interestingly solid lifters did make a return on the 2016 Ferrari F12 tdF but to little attention in that case. Thank you for your detailed reply, as the 1967 model year Corvettes are a strong favourite among the faithful!

I was a GM / Pontiac car enthusiast from the late 1970's. Had a number of them including a beautiful 1968 GTO with 400 / 4 speed. My current "other car" is a numbers-matching Grabber Green 1971 Mustang Mach 1 429 Cobra Jet w/Ram Air, Top Loader 4 speed, 3.50 Traction-Lok rear. Purchased from a (now retired) Director at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI, out of his personal 50 car Mustang / Shelby collection. Pretty neat back story. Came across him on a enthusiast's web site much like this one. A real torque monster, well for a car from the original musclecar era anyway. Image Unavailable, Please Login
