A thread in the Track section started me thinking about the track cars I've owned and I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else is running on the track. I'm sure we have everything from spec Miatas to 430 Challenge cars to full race Le Mans prototypes on this forum! Let's see them all!

The first pic is of my first 360 Challenge car. At the time I owned it I didn't run it enough to really enjoy it nor were my driving skills up to the task to even test it's potential. Years later after alot of karting, track days, driving schools, and the beginnings of a spec racing series - I'm really enjoying every aspect of owning a Radical SR3! :)

Yes. :) But it's definitely not a track car! Never even been close to one! The closest it will ever get to a track anything is sitting next to my Radical! :)

I drove one of those Ed and they are a blast! Probably the best "bang for the buck" track day car out there! Almost indestructible as well! :)

Here's mine. It is a 2002 GT3 Cup Car that finished second in the Supercup Series in 2002 with Marco Werner as the driver. He is currently an Audi works driver. I purchased the car from Farnbacher Racing and wound up running the Daytona 24 with them in 2005.

Raced those for a couple of years after many years of open wheel racing and what a blast! While the open wheelers were very fast, the SM was far more fun simply because every second of every lap you were trying to pass someone and/or someone was trying to pass you. The largest field I was ever in was 46 cars....never, ever a dull moment.

Just curious... Why rotary engine cars...? Didn't know or think that they were usable on track (thinking about reliability now).

But racing a 355: Living the dream :)

If I have one regret it's not going to racing school when I was 16 and my parents offered to send me.

Great cars so far, sure many more to come.

The rotaries grew on me, were reliable, and I ended up loving them. To start though back in 1999 when I got into club racing Spec Miata was only a few cars in Texas. Spec. RX7 (1st gens) was THE starter class like Spec Miata is today. We had 20-30 car fields and cars were only $3-5k. The class died off over next 10 years and Spec Miata exploded in growth, but it was a great class to learn in! No ABS, no power steering, only 110 HP - so momentum and lines had to be perfect.

rotaries make great race engines as you don't over-rev them and all their power is in the top end where you are in a race anyway. they are also light weight engines. only downside to rotary is keeping them cool, but you have that problem with any race engine. this applies to Spec Miata too, but no company has better racer support than Mazda.

Paul - I love the Lotus for track use also. I also have an Exige S and am planning to do some mods to it (it's stock right now). What upgrades have you done to your car?

Ha ha. Very cool! Judging by the cars ... is that the 24 hours of Lemons race by chance? :)
