Hey guys. Well, I just can't stand myself without a Ferrari. The old black metallic 328 is in my daily thoughts. However, I feel the need to aquire a 355. Probably a '95 with tubi & C. grill. Though Steve Barney looks like he has a nice '98 F1 too. www.sportauto.us

What can you 355 owners tell me to expect for a 30k service? clutch? What do you guys think? Jeff, Clark, anyone? And thanks for the driving offer, Jeff. I am in withdrawls. BTW, I moved closer to you to Doublegate subdivision @ State Bridge & 141.

A bigger question in my mind is how are service costs affected with F1? I know Manatee probably never had anything done to his with only 5K miles.

I think I know about the manifold thing & valve guide rod replacements. But any expounding would be helpful. Jeff, was your steering rack thing normal?

Oh Yeah, and it has to be a GTB!

    Thanks guys!

I do not own a 355 f1 right now but I did for 3 years. I must say it is a really wonderful car and a blast on the track. The sound of the F1 shifting with a Tubi is the best. It is just a super car and good looking too.
I only put 5k on my car a traded on a 360. My car was perfect in every way. I don't know about the 30k service or clutch wear. This is a great car and worth a look.

An often asked question - that has a few variabilities... Typically the 30K - assuming you will have a few "while the engine is out - you might as well..." things pop up - I would figure 4K on the low end - nothing wrong, just changing everything that needs its, belts, hoses, fluids, etc. 10K if you need things like clutch, shocks, AC, Fuel Pump or other things that could jack the cost up. With a 98 in good shape and the PPI looks good - you would probably be at say 4 or 5K - (I am assuming this of course is not going to a F-Dealer which will charge out the A** for standard 30K). Find a good IFS in your area - befriend them - buy them presents, etc. It pays off in spades.

Here is a link to my service completed about 1 month ago - Pics and description. Mine is a 95 Spider with 17K on the clock...

On the F1 Question - if the trans is bad or needs work - at the 30K service or any other time -just figure adding another 7K to that bill...

    Hope that helps a little...

    John,
stop by anytime you'd like. Hope you're over the trauma of the move. Always stressful. Going down to the AROC show in Fla. this weekend with the F.

Good to hear you are looking for another one. You can take the boy out of the Ferrari, but you cant..... u know. It's like HErpes, once you get it, you can temporarily mask the symptoms, but you got it for life ;^P

Also good choice in considering the 355. If I would have waited a couple of years I could have saved $20K. Gotta luv depreciation. If it's going to depreciate anyways, just drive the piss out of it. Maintain it of course, but just drive it to enjoy it. Anywhwere anytime. You're going to take the hit anyway. Lifes too short not to take advantage of the opportunity we're lucky to have to be able to have and to hold one of these cars. 355's are drivers cars.

Steering issue I had was an anomily, I've never heard of a leaking P.S. rack in a 355 going bad before. Just glad I had the $en$e to buy the Ferrari warranty from the dealer I bought the car from. repair cost double what the warranty was. PPI didn't uncover it, and it was OK when I picked the car up. Possibly some inactivity then lots of use, as the dealer had it awhile before I purchased it.

I have just sold my 95' 355 recently. I purchased it from Ferrari Atlanta and it had the 30k service done prior to purchase even though the car had 5k miles. The service record was about $4800 as I recall.

Let me know if you have any other questions
