Tough one, as i really like both but has to be the ............355!
355 Spider but like see through engine cover of 360,has anyone converted a 355 to a transparant panel ?
Check out the 355 in the front and the CS in the back. It took me forever to get this picture because of all the people around the CS, not the 355. Just an observation, but it seems like to the casual observer, the CS was a natural attraction. Now, if they were the same color and both has a stripe, maybe things would be different? To me, the front of the 355 looks dated. It's just doesn't seem that form follows function as well as the 360 (e.g., pop-up headlights disturb aerodynamics, larger frontal area, less air-flow to the engine and brakes around the sides, cuts in hood not as aerodynamic, etc). Also, the flatter "square" surfaces just don't seem as sexy as the more "organic" 360. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Similar on the rear. The 360 has a more sophisticated air exit strategy which gives it a "lighter" or "thinner" feeling. I always think of a wasp insect, I'm not sure why. The 360 exhaust openings are consistent with the other organic shapes in the front and sides and give the car a more aggressive look. Finally, on the 360, there's no doubt that there's a powerful and good-looking engine back there. The window, see-through grille, and aggressive exhaust all work together in that respect. And of course if there was a F430 there in the pic people would be around that instead of the 360CS, no great mystery there is there, the new ferrari will always attract the attention. As for the 355 looking dated, well thats becourse its 10 years old and will look dated next to a few month old ferrari. Thats the trouble with ferrari shows it makes the average ferrari look...well average, ferraris should be seen in small groups to maintain that special exclusive fealing. I also think that the engine in a 355 is far more pleasing to the eye than the 360 easy, just becourse the 360 has a glass rear does not mean its engine looks better than the 355.
The 360 is much more sensuous than the 355. I am surprised at the poll results. The 355 has nice lines, but the 360 is automotive sex, stylistically. The 430 is a step in the wrong direction, but then I am not sure how you improve on the 360.
I used to be a die hard F355 fan but the car is starting to look a little dated so I would have to say the 360 SPIDER looks have grown on me but I just seem to see way to many of those cars. I think I like both equally except for the dated factor.
Im sorry guys, but the 360 is definitely the better looking car. I used to work at American National Bank in my hometown for about three months, and accross the street from our parking lot, there was a dentist office. This particular dentist drove.....a 360 Modena coupe!! It was stunning...silver with burgundy leather. So anyway, I used to wait, intentionally, everyday outside on our dock for him to drive up in it. EVERYDAY, the car make me feels chills down my spine and butterflies in my stomach....Its so low and wide, it was always so clean, and those front air intakes were my favorite design feature. Yep those were the good ol' days.....Now I have no one's Ferrari to look at....bummer
Coupe, my vote goes 355 exterior, but 360 overall. The 360's interior looks much better than the 355. Spider, hands down 360. To me, the 355 spider doesnt hold a candle to the 360 look wise. That said. I'll be glad to have ANY 355 amongs my collection one day.
Ultimately most of us vote with our pocketbook, and on that basis you'd have to say the 360 is the winner, with many more sold than the 355. Gary
The vote is on looks and not how many are made. If it was a vote on which is the most common and most seen every day of the week , then yes that would be the 360 all day long. But in terms of rare exotic it has to be the 355.
Can you give some numbers - how many sold of the 355 vs 360. I know they sold 11,000 360s - is that correct ?
On that basis many exotics would be excluded, including the Enzo. Sorry, but many factors drive sales (availability, economic conditions, etc....) and I believe sales would be a poor indicator of looks. John
In 1999, I had the choice of a 355 or 360 and chose the 355. I haven't updated to the 360 in the last 6 years, because I like my 355 so much. However, later this year I will take delivery of a 430. I think the 430 is a huge step forward for Ferrari.
The production numbers for the 360 were boosted.....they simply didn't make as many 355's. The newer Ferrari's are becoming less rare since there are more of them. The cars are both beautiful, but I chose the F355 spider as my first ( and hopefully not last ) Ferrari because of the classic Ferrari looks, great sound, and uniqueness. The newer ones have advantages but in my eye are not as good looking.
Initially I liked the 355 better. However, as times goes by, the 360 body style gets more and more attractive. However, for classic looks, the 355 is absolutely great. I'd say the 360 is a far more modern look, while the 355 is the classic Ferrari look. Both are pretty good. The 430 on the other hand has some issues. It does have far better performance though. Art
Love them both. However if I am going to pick overall I'm going with the 355 especially in spider. (Though the interior of the 360 is a clear winner.) What I don't like about the 360 is the front grill and hood. To me it has lost the Ferrari traditional look which they are famous for. Also I find the front tires to be too thin for such a wide car. I'm talking about when you look at a 360 come towards you,it doesn't look agressive. Don't mean to offend anyone, heck I'd like to own one. We're talking about one guys preference. Thats all.
