So, Hamilton wants to be the next Schumacher in a sense that he makes Mercedes a world-beater. I won't say it's impossible.

He's aiming too high. Think about it...Lewis probably isn't all that good...I mean, who'd he beat for his single WDC?? Massa!! And I just read that he sucks!

But he did beat Massa by quite a huge margin! I believe it was a single corner If I'm remembering correctly.

I'm just glad he won't be getting the McLaren F1 LM (XP1 LM) that Ron promised him if he won two more WDCs at McLaren. :)

I think Seb, Fernando, Jensen and Kimi were all driving that year also, right?

By this logic, we must also conclude that Kimi isn't any good as he was beaten in the Ferrari by Massa.

The rest weren't in the hunt and were in inferior cars, to be frank.

But yeh....we all know massa is better than kimi.

It would have been criminal had he lost.

I'm pleased McHam is now MercHam, nothing better than a stirring of the pot in F1. He's made himself a second fortune by choosing to gamble on MB and if his hunch is correct, 2013 could be Nico's best AND worst year in F1.

Judging from the tone of the article and the photo, he's well free of the old doll. My man better have his planets in alignment to outpoint this teammate....;)

It sounds like it was more about "leaving home to grow up". I think it's fair to say it's hard to grow if you remain in the incubator. If he doesn't win at Merc though, it will be a big price to pay.

Fortunately, he walks away with enough ,money to ease the "pain"...

I'm predicting right now, it ain't going to happen. Mercedes will never been what Ferrari was in the early 2000's. McLaren, a team with massive resources, sure hasn't developed into a dominant team with Hamilton's assistance, and I doubt his talents are going to drastically turn around Merc.

I believe I posted another thread stating this. "Hamilton will never win another WDC"
He certainly is not going to be able to do it at such a large corporate structure as MB

Honda could not do it. Toyota could not do it. BMW could not do it.

Probably true, although it will be nice seeing him give it a try.

Actually IMO there will never again be a runaway success like there was with Ferrari MS and the dream team, at least whilst Bernie is still around. It's no good for the show.

Hamilton is much better but the parallels between his and JV's careers (so far) are staggering.

I couldn't disagree with you more.

The guy is out of F1 for a couple of years, comes back to a second rate team, and is now standing 3rd in the Championship standings, almost having doubled his team mate's points so far.............and you say he is over rated?!?!?

I think this year has been fantastic for Kimi, and truly shows the natural talent that he has.

Mclaren will always be Mclaren with or without any driver. Ferrari was Ferrari in the early 2000s due to what Michael, Ross, and Todt did. Let's see if Hamilton can kindle something somewhat similar to that brilliance as I don't believe anyone will ever achieve that level that Ferrari had ever again. Michael had something implanted in his body during that time which made him physically unable to be beaten by anything. Quite an amazing time, and of course Ferrari's relationship with Bridgestone certainly helped :D

Kimi is highly overrated, he's only slightly better than Massa in terms of speed, but is wise in essentially not crashing like many at that level seem to. Kimi just has a disastrous teammate who is consistently quicker than him yet is basically an idiot not to mention Kimi stepped right into a very decent little car. Kimi just waits for Grosjean to screw up and then passes him and takes the points Grosjean should have had if he were not an idiot. Simple. 3rd in WDC means nothing to me with what he has been handed and who he has for a teammate.

I believe they would have had they stuck around one more year. The BGP001 was so dominating, and development on that car had started almost 2 years ahead, so Honda definitely did their homework.

    I would hope so. :)

He had his doors blown off by Massa in 2008 and while he has had a great comeback due to his smart racing and consistency, it's quite clear he doesn't have the speed necessary to qualify the car in a suitable position and Grosjean is the quicker driver.
