So Lewis is at 90 wins and 95 poles and still loves every race weekend.
And Rosberg 23 wins and 30 poles and hung up his driving shoes. To very different men.

Indeed we can see that Hamilton likes to win easily. As soon as a grain of sand appears he hastens to call his nanny Bono to the rescue!

This is a terrible record for the supposed GOAT against his #2 driver, with all the advantages in strategy and equipment he was given, and what GOAT ever outright lost WDC to his #2?

These statistics prove that Lewis' results are a direct result of the team and car, and that any respectable driver would have amassed the same totals. Lewis only needed to be better than exactly one driver in the field, the unheralded other guy in the same car, and he was barely able to do even that. Remove LH from the results and what would Rosberg's career totals have been? Yep, same as Hamilton's. Maybe better.

Let it all out man, this is a good place to release your sorrow. However, reality remains Hamilton will go down as one of the greatest.

Aha Yes Merc the super team now, the real deal......but hang :confused:surely they cant be that super because it doesn't make any sense for them to spend vast amounts to retain Hamilton's skills as a driver, when they could have you pair drive it for them for nowt!....

But carry on as there is one thing you can be assured of is, whenever Lewis Hamilton is in the subject line, you do tend to get a thread with a lot of hits...

I don't recall Lulu annihilating the opposition prior to driving for Mercedes. Hamilton gives Mercedes a huge social media presence for the demographic they crave. Who gets passionate about Bottas?

You must be new to F1, if so that fine. Ham had plenty wins, and a championship before he joined Mercedes

Plenty of wins and a championship, he annihilated no one prior to joining Mercedes. I was new to F1 50 years ago. Thanks for the tutorial.

He's been posting about F1 here from long before you joined the forum and has a higher post rate in the F1 forum than you do. Please don't facetiously disparage other members as new to the sport when they clearly aren't.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

What is your definition of annihilated?
Name a driver who "annihilated" the field before driving a well developed car.

The reality is that with the level of this Mercedes team, Hamilton is not indispensable. But he has become a marketing and corporate attraction. Moreover In the current atmosphere, the board has no interest in going to clash with him..

Senna lost to Prost, Prost lost to Lauda. There aren't many teams that have had two drivers capable of winning the WC at the same time. Take 'slow' Eddie Irvine for example, he couldn't even win one when his teammate(s) set it up for him.

The problem for Hamilton is that Rosberg is not comparable to Senna, Prost ,Lauda. That puts everything in perspective.

But that one was stolen in Japan. And Senna won in 1988 in the same car too.

You can’t rewrite history according to your preferences.
On this account Prost scored more points than senna during their two years together at Mclaren in 1988 and 1989.
And he won the 1989 title against Senna, Mclaren and Honda although he announced his departure for Ferrari during the summer.

I think you are saying Prost was better than Senna, in my opinion he was much better but lacked the charisma of Senna albeit hugely respected. He failed at Ferrari due to Ferrari failing him......big time.

    No I don’t mean that,
the two were very different and among the greatest.
    Regarding Prost’s charism, I think you’re mistaken.
In a team his charisma was even overwhelming.
Ask Nigel Mansell about the 1990 season at Ferrari

This is not a "problem" for Hamilton. Hamilton has already beat champion team mates. Schumi's teammate list looks like F2 drivers compared to Hamilton's, yet he is still regarded as one of the best

bar Piquet you are right on this one.
    (Schumi teammates).
    Schumacher’s exploit is elsewhere.
    It’s about winning with Ferrari.
Not a small matter as we can see today.;)

Absolutely true for 1988: many people tend to forget how close Prost and Senna were, and particularly in 1988: there wasn't much to choose between the two of them that year; Prost scored seven Grand Prix victories and 105 points, but as only the best 11 results were taken into consideration, he had to discount 18 points, and ended with 87, against 90 for Senna who had scored eight Grand Prix victories and 94 points, but only had four points to discount.
Prost never vetoed any team mate, and accepted the challenge of such "top guns" as Lauda, Senna and Mansell for team mates. Not bad...

(The rumor says he refused to have Senna again as a team mate in 1994 at Williams, and that was one of the reasons he left at the end of 1993, even with a two-year contract still runing for 1994)
