Yeah good point. My only concern is that he'll be tied to Mclaren due to contractual issues when the team is uncompetitive. Similar to Jenson, when he wanted out of Honda and ended up screwing himself over.

James, don't compare McLaren to Honda, McLaren will always be a true F1 team as opposed to a car Manufacturer like Honda. They Breathe F1

True. I guess i'm thinking of the time when Mika was at Mclaren and they were crap. Using Peugot engines with Ford operating software or something. Senna was so fed up with it that Ron was prepared to put Mika in to replace him, because it wasn't certain he would continue the season, in 93 I think it was. Mclaren wasn't that competitive from about 92-97. During that time, as i'm sure you know better than I, the Williams and Benetton teams were the best. I don't think Mclaren will part ways with Mercedes any time soon, to say the least. So I guess we woln't have to worry about this issue.

James the 93 McLaren ran with a Ford HB with Tag Software and was a pretty competitive package, unfortunately the Renault had about 100 BHP more and the Benetton Ford had about another 60, the Peugot was the 94 only year car and it sucked big time. McLaren rebuilt the team after Senna. Mika replaced Michael Andretti.

Do you know the reason why Honda pulled their engines from Mclaren? They later supplied their engines for the Jordan team, but i'm interested why they ended such a succesful reign.

I just hope that Lewis won't be dominating the sport in the way MS did: It would be way too boring to see another guy win pole after pole, race after race and championship after championship.

Well they told everyone they achieved what they set out to do and therefore they wanted to concentrate elsewhere, i.e. CART. So 1992 was the last year of the Honda Engines, Mugen later supplied Jordan until Honda made an official comeback. But the Honda of today and the guys like Osmo Gato (who later went to Ferrari) are worlds apart.
