It seems to me if your going to sell on Monday what wins on Sunday, then why dont Honda and Toyota brand their Fcars as Acura and Lexus? My argument being that the competiton is Merc, BMW and Ferrari. It seems like the demographic would be the more expensive versions of the Honda and Toyota.

interesting how many Hondas they sell for 1 Acura. May be this is 1:10 ratio - and it just ain't worth it.

Also i don't think Acura and Lexus are worldwide brands.

Not quite, but both companies (Lexus more so) are pushing them to be.

Race on Sunday, sell on Monday, in and of itself does not work. It's no longer a valid marketing strategy.

Plus, Acura is a local brand, nor is Lexus a fully global brand.

Hello? Acura is going racing next year in the ALMS. And there's a lot of speculation that next year's Williams-Toyota will be badged a Williams-Lexus.

I am surprized they are even selling anything with how bad they are doing in F1.

Lexus and Acura brand names do not exist in Japan. Nor does Infiniti. I think all of the big 3 Japanese car makers are starting to introduce those brands into Japan.

Some examples of what it is right now:

Acura RSX is a Honda Integra
Lexus GS is a Toyota Aristo
Infiniti G35 is a Nissan Skyline

I've heard rumors that Renault might change the F1 name to Nissan to increase that brand in Europe. Not sure why Infiniti or Lexus would want their names in F1. I think it's just more of the motorsport behind the name. Nissan has done motorsport with that name (LeMans for example). Infiniti is a luxury brand and hasn't had any form of racing in the past. Wouldn't make that much sense to me.

also .. when you look at f1 costs per car sold .....its probablly cheaper to race under the bigger parent brands.
