The V10, who does it really appeal too? I know it's a rhetorical question, but from a purely emotional and non-technical viewpoint, where is its place? The V8 is iconic, and the new 428 small block in the Z06 is a great engine in an affordable supercar. The V12, almost singlehandedly because of Ferrari, is iconic. But the V10? Who really cares? The V10 Fomula One engine is now dead, and that takes the luster of the V10 supercar formula I think. Oh yeah, the Lexus is butt-ugly for sure.
awesome car, got the performance of a v10, yet the reliability of a toyota.... atleast no 30,000 engine out service required
I believe that's the price point. I also think it'll go 200,000 miles before a rebuild. FWIW that's a bad pic of the car.
F1's move to v8s has left a lot of people out in the cold. BMW just went to great lengths to design one for the ///M5 & 6. I saw the Lex at the NY Auto show, it's better in person, VERY low and VERY wide, it has the proportions of an exotic. That said, I agree, other than that, it is quite ugly.
I think it's butt ugly, BUT the Japs do things right....and they do it right the first time. I have no interest in it, but I GAURENTEE it will kill Ferrari and Lamborghini, that's just their style. So will Honda's 2008 V10 NSX!!!! Now that im interested in!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if you don't like what I said, look at it this way: Maybe Ferrari and Lambos will finally be RELIABLE....especially Ferrari. and compition only improves the qualitly and makes them release it faster...like the 430 spider is out only cause of the G spider, not waiting so long to release it like normally.
Yea and lexus is not in that market. They would be better off making a huge luxo sedan to compete w/ Merc or even Bentley, if it was reliable it might sell, better than this will anyway.
theres a rumor going that lexuz is designing an eight speed gear box. U think they will put that in the lf-a?
theyll have a lot of competition, but it doesnt mean i dont think the car will be competitive, or rather, sell. Every upper middle class yuppie drives a lexus these days, this car will sell.
Well if they want a serious go at it then I hope they take lessons learned from the Ford GT. Its one thing to produce lots of HP. Its another to sell it. Lexus has *way* better dealers than Ford for sure, but they are nowehere near the caliber needed to sell supercars. And unless the production is very low, which is not Lexus's style by any means, then it will not be exotic, just fast. There are lots of fast cars out there. I wish them luck but I doubt it will raise much of an ebrow in Italy.
apparently you don't remember sept of 1990, It COMPLETLY embarrased Ferrari and the 348 in EVERY SINGE WAY!!!! ......every!
Lexus jumping onto the exotic car foray is a good thing. It could only mean more choices for us and putting the heat on other manufacturers to up the ante.
