Saturday 25 April at Cannon Field (53TX) on Loop 1604 just due south of San Antonio there is the annual Liason plane fly-in and picnic. If you like L birds like L-2, L-3, L-5, L-16, L-19 and their brethren, this is worth seeing them in their element flying off of grass. Would not recommend flying in in a nosewheel plane, unless to use Stinson(SSF) and I'll pick you up or get a rental.

Lots of nice folks, really cool planes and bbq. I know the Wx is iffy, but hopefully will be nice.

I wish that I could post pictures of my old L-3 that my partner and I restored from a basket case in 1966-67. I believe that we had the first liason plane restoration in the country at that time, It won a lot of trophies. We flew it twice to the Merced Antique Fly-in 1970-71 down the length of the Cascades and Sierra's. Tough flying dodging a bunch of big rocks in the clouds. My son soloed in it when he was 16 and went on to fly DC-3's, 727's, Embraers, Rj's,etc. Our airplane, " Super Slug", was destroyed in a mid-air while loaned to a friend so that was the end of that.
