    Sorry man,

When I grew up we didn't have learners permits and the drinking age was 18. I got in right under the new laws and some of my friends had to wait until they were 21 to drink. It didn't make sense to me then and it doesn't make sense to me now.

Vote for me in '04 and I'll repeal 'em both......... oh wait, you can't do that either, my bad........... Think '08

Life moves pretty quick.... don't rush it

I get my permit in 3 months, 11 days! Actually, on Thanksgiving to be exact, maybe that'll mean less lines at the DMV...? Im really looking forward to that, but after that I have to wait 9 months to get my liscense. Better than a year...but wish it was more like 6... LUCKY!

Getting a license is no problem. Let us know when you get your first ticket. Then your initiation into the driving world will be complete...

Good for you. I took my driver's test in 1972 driving my mother's 1968 Ford Galaxie 500XL Convertible, dark green with tan interior.

Why'd you take off the Lindsey Lohan avatar? I saw Freaky Friday yesterday and finally figured out who the heck the girl in the picture was. She's cute.

    Here in Australia:

You can apply for your Learner's Permit at age 16. You must have a fully licensed driver in the front seat of the car with you at all times when driving. You are allowed to travel up to 80kmph (50mph). Yellow "L" plates must be displayed on the front and rear of the car at all times while the Learner driver is in control of the vehicle.

At 16 1/2, you are allowed to get your Provisional License. You can get this either by a test or via the "logbook" method, which involves going through certain tasks with an instructor. The latter method usually takes no less than 10 hours of instruction.

Once aquiring your P's, you have to have them for 2 years. You're allowed to travel up to 100kmph (62mph). Red "P" plates must be displayed on the front and rear of the car at all times while the Provisional driver is in control of the vehicle.

that sucks, altho i personally think its better. Here, the test is a joke. It took me 3 minutes. I had to parallel park, turn onto a street, go around in a circle thing and stay on my side of the road and drive back. It was rediculous.

I didnt even take a driving test!
All I did was answer 5 questions (A yellow sign with [|-] means what?) and a week later I got my liscence in the mail.
