    Hi All,
Does anyone have any experience with any companies that install 2 post lifts in MA? I have looked around at various lift manufacturers, and I like the autolifters 2 post lift, but I would rather not install it myself. (Hey, I'm building the whole garage, I can wimp out on some stuff). The thought of me just bolting down a lift and then lifting a 3,000 pound car on it gets me nervous. This seems like something I might want to leave to an expert...?

    Thanks

Locate the local dealer for the lifts, they have installation crews.

BTW, my lift posts weighed about 800 lbs each. They used a fork lift to install them. Definitely not something I'd want to try to install myself except under extreme duress. I think I might be able to do it with an engine hoist, but best left to pros.

BTW, you might check with Garage Equipment Co. Woburn, MA. That's who sold me my lift. They primairily sell commercially, but also often have used lifts for sale in the Want Advertiser, carry several brands. Delivery & installation was only $200 or so. Negotiated it as a package with the lift.

Even if you don't buy from them, they might refer you to the crew they contract installations with.

BTW, what you want for heavy eqpt installation is called a 'rigger'. Ask Spider348, he's had riggers install heavy machine tools in his company.

Verell, you are a wise man! We use D.L.Quinn out of Middleton, MA. Best riggers I have dealt with. Dave Quinn recently installed a Mazak FH880 CNC Horizontal Machining Center for me. 10' tall x 11' wide x 20' long through a 11'1" wide door. Not a scratch on the cabinet. Amazing skill. Thanks guys, I'll give them a call. I called Autolifters (manufacturers of the lift I'm considering) and they basically said it's no big deal to install, just drill holes, insert anchors and bolt it down. But that's the easy part. It's the EXTREMELY friggin heavy pieces parts that I am worried about being able to move. I expected that Autolifters would have a list of qualified installers in MA, but they have no such thing.

I just got a contract to write another book and there is a large enough advance that I think Christine is going to let me get the lift sooner rather than later, so this has become more important than it was a month ago. YEE HAAA!
