Where are the proper lift points for my 348ts? When changing tires or lifting, where is it best to place a jacking device without damaging any framework or undue stress on components?
The official ones are the upside down U shaped fittings about a foot behind the front wheel and back by the end of the door (see pics). However that rear one is so far forward, if you just jack both sdes at that point, you can almost use the car as a teeter totter. If your doing any work under the back, I would place jack stands at the official fitting, but then add some stands lightly wedged under the engine cradle frame. If you're dropping the engine, and the car's ass is hanging out in space, I would throw some buckets of water in the front trunk to weigh that nose down Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
P.S.: if you're going to be taking wheels on and off, I recomend taking one of your wheel bolts to the hardware store and finding a fairly long bolt with same threads. Cut the hexagonal top off it and round over the tip of the remaing bolt. When you're ready to mount a wheel, place your new tool in the bolt hole of the hub at the 12:00 o'clock position, lift the wheel and slide it's 12:00 o'clock bolt hole over the tool. Get the other bolts started, then remove the tool and place the last wheel bolt. SOOOOO much easier than trying match up holes while the wheel and hub are moving about.
+1 on this. You can instead get the Wheel mounting tool from Ricambi for $14 if you don't want to make one yourself. http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=28&osCsid=8bs80eh934uo214cuih9pccdm2
A mighty thank you for the info and most for the photo showing the lift points. No where in my manuels could I find mention of the channel points and was hesitant to use them. The frame points for lifting are to far inboard to reach with most jacks and distortion of framing if proper pad is not used on stands or jack. I did make a jig for the rear "A" arm to fit on my floor jack to raise the rear wheels one at a time but front is to low. Thanks again for the info, the pics are a great help For lug bolts and the mounting/alignment stud/bolt contact these people below, Phil at Otis was extremely helpful www.OtisIncLA.com www.RADUSADirect.com
