My FF with 4,200 miles now has a Lift System Failure. It started this morning on startup. I have had a few long engine off stops and it continues to come back. It also comes back when driving sometimes, and only in a left turn. Since my dealer is a couple hours away it may be a few days before I get it looked at but will let you all (y'all if it applies :D) know the results.

    Anyone else with lift problems?

sorry to hear Rick. We've used the lifts a handful of times, all worked fine.

I would imagine it's a small glitch with the ECU or the hydraulics. Please keep us posted.

Was it acting up? what is the failure mode? (eg. stuck up, won't go up, one corner goes up?)

Hopefully there is a reset sequence that's easy but sounds like you'll have to get the dealer to plug in the DEIS to get the code.

Rick I am sorry to hear your problems but you always astound me. Already you have 4200 miles? That's fantastic.

I find it unusual that you would even see the warning when cornering. I'm suspicious of a fluid level issue. When the shocks raise, fluid flows from the reservoir into the shocks and then back in as they lower. Seems logical anyways and I would hope it's something "stupid", being so new.

Thanks guys, the dealer will pick it up tomorrow as I need it tonight to take an old friend and his son for a 'ride':).

It began when I started the FF Monday morning, and the car was down. I probably have used the lift 4 times since I got the car. I assumed a computer glitch and shut it all down, waited a few minutes then started it again. It still gave me the fail warning. This morning taking my daughter to school it randomly went off a few times.

The good news is I only have to 'lower' myself to driving my California for a few days :D, not all the way down to my CL550:D:D.

And I looked at the odo today, actually 4,600 miles with two drives to Columbus and one to Cincinnati but the rest are local fun miles.

    Rick:

Just had campaign 371 (electro hydraulic update) done today on my 2012 FF (Feb 2012 build). Found out about it when I had FF in for winter tire swap last week. Campaign addresses filler cap pressure issue which can potentially leak impacting fluid level for hydraulic lift system. Never saw the message or had leak in hydraulic from what they could tell. Service work/parts replaced under warranty but had to wait a few days on parts.

Thanks Dave, waiting a few days, yuck, guess my California will have to fill in longer than I wanted :). It will be interesting to see what happens.

This was quick fix (1 hr) so it could be done while you wait. Give your local guy a call and mention the service campaign to see if they could be pro-active to get parts.

My FF will be back next Tuesday. They are replacing a collar and the reservoir cap. It also needed a 379 campaign which is a 4wd software update of some sort.

FYI - I had PTU software (campaign 379) update done back in August (planned as 4-5 hours if all goes well). My car spent a second day at dealer since internet connection to Italy was problematic and didn't finish downloading all the updates on first day.

Thanks Dave, they tell me it is all done except waiting for the parts for the lift system. It sure would be interesting to know what the software update does, but probably will not get that detail.

Hope you get your FF home soon Rick. Nothing worse than having an empty space in your garage when waiting for work to be carried out! I don't have the lift option on mine so will never have a problem with it!!

    Hey Rick

Our car underwent this campaign as well. Since I'm a nosy car guy/techno geek and know the shop well, the guys went over the campaign with me, it had a long list of components to update.

Best I can tell, it was a significant software update across most of the powertrain systems of the car. Most appeared to be PTU/TCU, but hard to tell how significant a software patch is. Ostensibly, it was commented as a PTU/TCU but changes in that might affect every other ECU in this car. We've noted no adverse or strange effects. it did take a couple days to perform the download, and the usual complete reboot, drive, test, drive again, confirm steps.

Apparently our car was fitted with updates on the lift at the factory (I asked them to check our car for your lift issue the other day via phone), so hopefully this is a known/minor and easily correctable glitch. (famous last words)
