    Hey Guys

I've read a bunch of the lifting guide threads, and also the engine out threads (using a 4 post lift)... As I am about to start this journey, I decided to test the lifting point areas / access / dry run the engine out procedure... I ran into one hiccup:

I have a 4 post lift that I plan to use for the engine out... Using the sticky DIY thread, I tried to lift the car from the rear jack points using small 6" bottle jacks to create the engine cradle seperation, before the car will be lifted up by the lift leaving the engine on the floor... the problem I have: the bottle jacks do not fit underneath the car when it is on the lift.. The clearance is about 4" and the smallest bottle jacks are 6" tall! How do I get them underneath the body once the car is on the lift?

Usually I could use a floor jack to jack up the side a bit and get the bottle jack underneath, but with the car on the lift, the floor jack cannot slide under the car to get the process started? What am I missing?

    THanks!

you should have a cross bridge .. looks like a metal tray that goes across from one runway to the other

I’ve got the cross bridge - use the bottle jack on that ? None of the recommended lift points are in the center / how will I place the engine trolly/cradle if I use the under trans area to lift?

I was saying to use that to lift a little and then using other stands or bottle jacks put onto points on runway ..I thought there were lifting points where frame meets engine frame like the 512 tr

Do it this way 96 355 engine removal | Page 2 | FerrariChat

    Then at the end:

    1. Attach the ramps to the lift
    2. Use some 4x4 cut to support the ends of the ramps so they are level to the rest of the lift
    3. Push the car back so that the engine cradle will clear the back.
    4. Use a rolling platform to support the engine/cradle, put a large ATV jack underneath the platform
    5. Jack up the rear of the car until you can insert the bottle jacks under the jackpoints, and then remove the wheels, and the ramps

Unbolt the engine, lower the cradle to the ground.
Lift the car up using the 4 post lift,
Roll the engine out the back,

I did similar to the above but with Jack stands on the cross bridge instead of bottle jacks. I bought the 1000lbs hydraulic cart from harbor freight to hold the cradle. I'd upload a picture but the site won't allow it from my phone for whatever reason.
