Last night. It's dark. Rt 46 Wayne just past the Home depot/Riverview drive ramp:

Boy, those feed arrows on the road and those reflective side markers are bright! Wait.....
    they didn't?!?!???
    They did!

Somebody is burying lamps (or I hope bright white LEDs) strips into the pavement! I guess they are tied to the overhead lighting and go on when it gets dark. They look like brand new reflective thingy's usually glued onto the pavement but since they are burried, they shouldn't get worn down by tires. But it would be a stinker to replace a faulty bulb/LED.

Anybody else know about this stuff?

My first take is "What a waste of money".

Its a mess in this area. Route 46 has been like this for at least 5 years or longer. Those lights I guess sound cool. I have not driven there at night yet.

Clyde... funny you mention this. Thats on my normal commute home and Ive wondered abt those things since they were installed. I just dismissed them as highly reflective prisms.... you think they actually illuminate? Cool ****

Another "we paid for it" head shaker if ever I saw one.

$20 to the first person who does a burnout over them. (Paging Rob...)

Well, I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss it as a "waste of money," if it achieves its desired effect (preventing people from hitting the concrete side walls or veering into oncoming traffic)?

In any case, it sounds sort of cool, and next time I'm up there, I'll be on the lookout.

I knew this was going to happen as leds last super long and give high visability while being energy efficient. I would not be surprised if they were solar powered.

I pass this every now and then and at first couldn't figure out whether it was HIGHLY reflective or illuminated.
