Upon startup the right side high beam and low beam flicker and within seconds flameout. I'm thinking maybe a bad ballast. The left ballast is hot (I didn't realise how hot those things got until I started poking around) and the right ballast is warm. Anyone experience this or any ideas as to cause.
Upon further inspection the left/right "xenon ecu's" as Ferrari calls them appear to have different part numbers as evidenced by the bar code tags on them. I cannot confirm through the manual or parts lists as there is no sign of the parts in either source. Anyone shed some light on my predicament?
Solution...upon removing the light assembly and ECU/Ballast it was apparent that some arcing had been taking place. The cause was a bulb that had not been seated properly and the connector to the bulb was also not seated properly. The pictures tell the story. I cleaned up the contact point on both the bulb slip ring and the ECU/Ballast connector , put everything together and what da ya know...lights While I was in there I replaced the alarm siren that has been sitting on my workbench for 2 years. Works perfectly. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good work Steen! I’ve worked with several 575 lamp assemblies and it is simply amazing how poorly the factory puts these together. Yes I realize that others could have messed with these pieces over the years but I’ve had my hands on new ones that needed to be reassembled. Was either that or wait another 3 to 6 months to get another one and not know whether it would be any better or not come in at all. Bill FL
Bill She came from the factory that way. I could tell as I disassembled the light unit that it had never been apart before. Amazing the lights worked as long as they did. That was quite the divot in the bulb base that had been melted from the arcing.
