Background: Car just arrived by ship, would not start, had to be jumped to be removed from port... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUnrkPqik8M[/ame] Please see attached video of the issue: I jumped the car from my DD and it started off perfectly (using jumper position on rear). On starting the car, I noticed that the front parking light and side marker were both on - despite the car light switch being in the off position. This is a US spec so I am assuming there are NO DRL on the car... After switching the car off, the lights remained on for a while, then switched off. I switched off the battery isolator switch, the alarm ran for about 30 seconds, then the car went to sleep - without a jumper, it will not switch on/power up/anything. With just the jumper connected, as in the video, the DRL are ON when there is NO KEY in the car. THe isolator switch is also on the OFF position. Please watch and tell me what may be doing this: The parking light and side marker come ON for about 12 seconds, then go off for 9 seconds, then come back on for 12, go off for 9, etc... Thanks!
Are you certain the 4-way flashers (hazard light) switch is turned off? Are the rear lamps showing the same condition?
I was going to say the same thing. If the main switch is off and the only connection is by a jumper, you are probably not getting enough power to run the hazard lights correctly. It takes a certain amount of power to trigger the hazard relay on and off. Hopefully, that is what it is. Let us know. Good luck and also, that is a beautiful car!! P.S. Hey Daniel, why are you up so late/early? I know that it takes me into the early hours of the morning just to finish going through all of my business emails. What is your excuse?
Excuse #1: I'm addicted to Fchat. Excuse #2: I'm a workaholic, with a healthy dose perpetual anxiety Excuse #3: See #1. At least I have a fresh box of Pop Tarts and Diet Coke at my desk !
Thanks for the quick reply guys! The hazard is switched off, and the rear lights were NOT flashing. However, strangely, the lights coming on/off has now stopped for the last hour... apparently my car is possessed!! LOL... The car is currently at detailer (the shop where the video was taken) and he just informed me that the lights are no longer coming on... he will test the battery in an hour or so to see what happens... I shall keep you posted as well... In the meanwhile, any other ideas as to why this would happen ?? Also - the car will be modded in the next few days: - Clear Front Parking Lights - Tint - LED upgrades for all lights except low/high beam - Sound System with Back up camera? - Fresh Paint Job for nose and front hood... polish rest of car... application of clear bra at the end - Full Interior Polish and CF - 4 new Michelins (front on PS2, rear PSS - same not available for front/back set)... ahhh.... can't wait...
I wouldn't bother trying to diagnose anything until you have a fresh and fully fully charged battery in there. Once you do, I'd run it for about 20 minutes without touching anything, to let the electronics settle in. Then go ahead and turn it off, and then start it up again, and begin by testing everything while running. Testing things, or even having the key in the thing with less than 12V available can cause all sorts of false failures, and possibly cause some real ones.
Sounds like a good first step... will try and do that tom morning (its a little before 10pm right now here)... Thanks for the tip!
