Hi people, happy money. My ‘88 has a basically inoperable passenger side window. From my research it looks like I need remove the door panel and clean/lubricate the power assembly but should check the switch first?

Obviously looking for the easiest fix but seems like a low probability that it is switch, no?

    Thanks!

Checking the switch is super easy and entirely possible. A good place to start.

    Agree !
Get a can of de-oxydizer, spray into the switch and cycle it.
I had a rear right on my cab that only came up with help of manual pulling. After I read some threads here about those oxydized switches I bought a can and guess what... comes up by itself again.
And even better: I had to open the engine lid in order to fuel up because I thought my solenoid was burned.
Sprayd that switch also and hey, gas lid pops open at each push again.........

Not guaranteed to fix your problem, but absolutely the easiest thing to try first.

    Best,
    Mondi Cab

Try the deoxydizer spray first. You will not even need to remove the switch !

Hello fellow Mondial owners (how cool to be able to say that), hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Unfortunately the spray didn’t fix it. So pull switch next?

Measure the volts you are getting to the motor or the switch, can be a supply problem up the line

Personally, I think its easier to take the door panel off and check voltage at the motor than trying to get that switch out of the console. The factory grease in the motor and regulator track will have hardened into a solid glob by now if it has never been cleaned. Luckily, with an 88, you are looking at a fairly easy to deal with regulator and motor rather than that insane cable set up that was on the earlier models. This was one of the first things I did to my 87 when purchased, and the windows have worked flawlessly ever since. Now the cabriolet quarter windows are another project entirely....

Hello people - I have been a bit delinquent on providing an update. After the 3rd application of the spray and working the switch the window went up! Looks like a combination of a failing switch (since I have to rock it a bit and it is still intermittent) and poor connection.

At some point I will pull the door card and clean and lubricate everything.

Thank you VERY much for the suggestions.

You need to measure the volts at the motor regardless of the rest of it
