    Hi Everyone,

Did a walk around Lime Rock today and realize there was a discussion about it a while back. Basically, it seems they:

Made the flag stations a bit more safe

There is a tall fence on the left at Zig Zag between 4 and 5 to keep the animals away. Spoke with LRP official who was there and he said the only animals they ever got were big snapper turtles, but that was rare and now the fence solves that.

Paved the left side of the track just before the uphill and looks like they also made it a slight incline as you reach the far left edge. This is nothing you'd normally have your tires on anyway (hopefully), but if you go wide it seems that it could be used to help 'push' you back on track.

They did pave more of the parking lot yesterday and it looks ok (not perfect, but better than dirt). There is still dirt on the far away right side (the section between Big Bend turn 2 and the Left Hander turn 3).

All in all, the track looks good, the said there were a few offs in the damp/rain this AM around the left hander but all in all things are fine. Will know more tomorrow and Saturday as will be driving it.

    Hope this helps.

But most of the track is still unpaved and instead of following the "rain" line two weeks ago, I found the "O.S." line - as in Oh **** line :D I generously took off the RT2000's nose wing and clipped the rear wing against the inside wall just after West Bend and before the downhill.

I saw it a few weeks ago as well, definately is a lot safer. Even in the speed test drive with the M6's the course was re-done. As a matter of fact.. when I was up there a few weeks ago, I saw an entire fleet of BMWs.. even one of the M6s. BMW of NA is certainly sponsoring that track a lot more lately.

    Oh yeah, BMW flags everywhere.

Seems that some of the lines, like the Left Hander, got worse from what i saw. Maybe all the rain caused the ground to settle more or ????

Will know more in a few hours after being on track.

I was up there a couple of weeks ago with the Jaguar club and VSCCA. The improvements are generally good, but they still haven't repaved the track itself. The front straight after the downhill is still a washboard. Fees for the track keep going up and they keep demanding money for their "repaving" fund. Nicer stations for the flag workers is a good thing. But repaving the track is a safety issue IMHO. They took our money for years on the promise they were repaving the track. It's about high time they actually delivered on the promise.

I'll be back up there on July 3 with SCCA. More paving in the paddock will be nice, especially since I trailer the car now and it's nice not to have to park in the mud.

Pchop -- When I was there in the begining of June, we had a full rain day on Saturday. I hear you about the rain line. They say the trick is to keep the weighted wheels off the NASCAR concrete pads. But more than once the active handling in the Corvette kicked in to save my butt. You definitely learn to handle a car trying to drive the track in the rain. Sorry to hear about the nicks and bruises my man.

    Amen x 2

    Amen

They paved more paddock area 2 days ago... but now they are being anal about jacks and front trailer wheels so you have to use wooden boards (supplied by LRP).

Ditto, sorry to hear about the troubles and agree, today's torrential rain made LRP close the track, and when we were allowed back on....

    Yes sir :)

The afternoon rain never came and i got lazy for the last two sessions... left my 'rain tires' (Mich Pilot Sport PS2) on the car versus ther Pilot Cups. Lap was 1:12 and here i am chasing down a new Lotus.

Well, actually those Loti (plural of Lotus? ;-) ) do darn well. One guy had a turbo'ed car (at 7 pressure or whatever) doing amazing laps (forget what his time was. This one amazing guy with the track only Lotus really tweak purpose built did laps at just under 1 minute! He was flying!!!

Wish i was rich to afford Hoosiers every third or so track event :(

thanks for the clip...got any longer ones?

Yes, I always loved the lotus, but until I got mine a few weeks ago, I didn't realize how fast (relative speaking) and how well the car handles. I actually take the clover on-off ramp on LIE at about 60+MPH. Unbelievable!

I got stuck in the city and didn't make it up...bummer

Hope you had a great time!

Yes, i have continuous sessions (two) but the file raw is about 3/4 of a Gb each.

    Amen, they are very impressive.

Did indeed, the guys at SCDA (www.scda1.com) run a great, safe event. They had SCCA flaggers and everything was very well organized.

Weatherman predicted rain that never came on Saturday so could have enjoyed the day on Mich Pilot Cups instead of Mich PS2 :( Still, the PS2 have this nice progressive slide (and squeal) to them at the limits. Ran with the PS2 all last year while this year is the Cups. Kinda forgot how much fun, if slow, the PS 2 are. Very predictable, progressive, and forgiving.
