Hello all, I hope everyone is looking forward to the Ferrari Challenge returning to the famous venue this year after a 4 year hiatus. This was my first "real" exposure to Ferraris so it holds a special place for me. Link - http://limerock.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=272&Itemid=140 I am currently in the process of trying to put together something with Lime Rock for this event in conjunction with FerrariChat members. Some ideas thus far include: - F-Chat member parking section - Discount on tickets (this would probably only work in large numbers) - Commemorative poster for first X amount of members - Parade laps At this point these are just ideas, but the staff is excited to do something with the most well known Ferrari Forum . Please post any thoughts/ideas that come to mind. (This will be posted in the New England section as well)
I am a member at Lime Rock - shoot me a PM and I will make sure you are in contact with the right folks. It is my home track.....
Count me in I'm only 25 minutes away from the track and usually go to most events. By the way the last Ferrari challange event I went to they allowed all people who came in driving a Ferrari could park down in the paddock. Maybe they could set up a parking area down there .
Hi all, Updates - I am currently in the process of nailing down the details. Limerock is open to everything from parking section, parade laps, charity raffle and group discount. So for it to be official I need to contact the FChat admin which I believe is Rob Lay so that we can make marketing material using the FChat logo. I have sent him a PM, but if someone knows him personally and can get a phone # for me it would be greatly appreciated. My personal email is [email protected] Will keep you all posted
All, we are looking good. The details should be finalized this week but FChat members should have their own promo code for tickets, parking area in the paddock, parade lap and charity raffle (most likely Make A Wish). For the charity, it would be great if the winner could get a ride in something truly exotic, say F40, F50, Enzo etc. so I am reaching out the community. Are there any members with these cars willing to give the raffle winner some parade laps around the track for a good cause ? If so please get in touch with me - [email protected] Thats all for now. I will post updates as they become available
Hi all, Heres the latest. Limerock is officially going to be joining up with F-Chat for the July 30th event. We have a promo code, hot laps raffle, club parade laps and paddock parking area. The break down for each is as follows: Promo Code : FERRARI2011 Here is the link to the ticketing page: http://tickets.limerock.com/ Here is the direct link to buy the car corral ticket: http://tickets.limerock.com/orderticketsarea.asp?p=395&a=2&backurl=default.asp The promo code will get a $5 discount, and while that may seem small on the surface, its factored in with the price of signs, parking area set up, hot lap discount, etc. Hot Laps Raffle: The raffle will be held to benefit the Make-a-Wish foundation. Raffle tickets are $5 or 3 for $10 (typically these are $100). A Hot Lap is two laps around the track, at fast speed of 120mph, with a professional driver. Helmets included. This will be offered upon arrival sign up for the raffle when you arrive. Lime Rock will be on site to supply raffle tickets and handle the drawing. There will be 3 winners chosen. If you have never had the chance to do this it is some serious fun. Parade Laps: There will be a group parade lap at some point during the day. It may be limited to 50 cars for time constraints, and work on a first come first serve basis. I will let you know the time when they decide it. Parking: Parking will be in the paddock most likely where the teams are, so right next to the action. This may have to be expanded to the area near the Skip Barber school if capacity is reached. Thats all for now. Will post more details as they become available.
Update - I am working on deals with some FChat sponsors for some service/detailing discounts for members who attend. Will post more details as they surface. We are getting a good response from this. I think its going to turn out to be a great event.
They used to let all Ferraris in at no charge during Ferrari Challenge events; are you sure they want to charge for F-cars?
I don't know what year you were thinking but I have not gotten a free pass since I have driven my Fcar to their track. That's been 11 years now.
Actually it was five years ago when I last went to a Challenge event there. Two groups of us drove up from the NY area and all the F-cars were admitted free and were parked in the lower paddock. This was only extended to us for the Challenge event and FCA events; I remember paying to enter all other events there. They usually give five dollars off at the Vintage event in September if you have a AAA card. Actually they will allow two people a $5 discount on a AAA card at that event. I would suspect the same for this event too.
Considering this track is only 20 miles from where I live I usually attend most events. The only thing I recall on some of the earlier Ferrari challenge events was we were allowed to park in the paddock. I don't recall getting in for free. Also I usually hop on the Fiat club for the Vintage races. They have their own parking and parade laps along with a gift bag and a discount. See ya at the races.
Hey all, Just spoke with LRP last night. When we spoke they said they had sold 25 tickets total thus far, though I dont know from what region. And we still have 2 weeks to go so its going to be a great turnout. Really looking forward to putting some faces (and cars) to everyones name on here. Maybe we should have name tags with our screen names haha Also I will be taking pictures of the corral and the cars so if anyone wants some shots afterwards just let me know
Great and I hope the weather holds out. As always this is a rain or shine event so I'd hate to bring the car out in the rain. We'll see so until then have a good week.
I'm leaving around 8:30 from the Millbrook area. Anyone else driving over from the area. Let me know and if not I'll see you in the corral.
I was planning on leaving around 9am from Rhinebeck. Take Taconic to Rt. 199 and we can meet there. Then take Rt. 199 to Lime Rock about half hour from there.
Funny I just got a note from LRP the other day and they said that they were reducing the tickets to $30 . I assume that they were not getting enough sales and marked them down. So it looks like our $5 discount is not going to get us much. Such is life I guess.
Update - Just spoke with LRP. We are up to 33 cars for the corral which is fantastic. Parade laps will be from 12 -1 and parking will be in the "A" paddock where the teams and trailers are. Looking fwd to meeting one and all. Brett Steve - I have a note to them about the pricing, seems to be some discrepancies
