Is there going to be free adission for drivers/passengers in Ferraris this year as in past yearsat Lime Rock for the upcoing Ferrari Days/Historic Races? If so, is ay sort of special arrangement or reservation ecessary before hand? Thanks for the reply.

It is my understanding that admission is NOT free this year. They are charging an admission fee for all spectators, regardless of what you drive to the track. The only folks who don't have to pay are those who are actually signed up with FCA Empire Region for the track event that is running along with the historic Ferrari races. Of course, you have to pay the entry fee to participate in the track event, and that's about $475, IIRC.

BTW, not for nothin', but if you enjoy doing track days, Bob Coates and the Empire Region FCA run great track events. Lime Rock in July this years is definitely "Ferrari Only" event, because of the historic races. But if you love the track, FCA-ESR is running a 3-day event at Watkins Glen Labor Day weekend that will be absolutely fantastic. And that event if open to all makes, not just Ferraris. Check out their track schedule at:

Off Topic: Interesting. FCA ESR didn't run non-Ferrari events in the past - "slots were all filled with Ferraris." Considering they now have room for non-Ferraris at some events it looks like interest in their activities is waning. I guess I'm not the only one to run in the other direction of the FCA. The question is; why run with the FCA for $475 when you can run with other groups that are just as safe and organized for hundreds less?

    Andy,

Show me anyone who runs a two day event at Lime Rock for "hundreds" less than $475. Please. The costs to clubs to rent LRP has gone through the roof, plus they add on a "repaving fund" surcharge as well. Unless they are packing them in like sardines, the cost per car is going to be high. That's just the reality of LRP these days. The Glen isn't much better as far as cost goes. I was just at LRP this past Monday with SCCA, and it cost $270 for one day. For $475 for two days, including a dinner ain't that bad, IMHO.

    Regards,
    Steve

This year alone have run with SCDA and COMSCC and FCA (planned PCA, but i had a business schedule conflict). Hundreds less??? Who? What? Where? So far pricing is usually within $50 or so and we must also take into account the ACTUAL TRACK TIME and NUMBER OF CARS running. The number of cars on the track with you can vary depending on your run group of course.

Have been adding up expenses and the actual track cost all averages within a few percent. Other costs include food, gas (to/from+event), brake pads, various fluids for car, hotel, tires, etc.

So would LOVE TO KNOW who offers same track time/location/cars in run group for hundreds less than FCA-ESR? Do you have some Super Secret group no one knows about, please share.

As for FCA-ESR, they have the most amount of Fcars at an event BY FAR than ANY OTHER GROUP i have run with or heard from others who do track time. Some events (COMSCC for example) i am the lone Fcar.

I was never really big on track event dinners its kind of an oxymoron to me. But how about PCA NY Metro at Pocono for $280 for two days or Watkins Glen or LimeRock for $300 for 2 days? I think the Connecticut region chapters also have similarly priced events too.

I suspect that the Historics event will add two more run groups to the day's schedule (disk brake and drum brake classes). Unless they start earlier, run later and don't take lunch, it looks like LESS track time at this particular FCA event.

Actually, they are running straight through lunch, no lunch break, and track will be open until 6 p.m., usually end by 5 p.m. Bob is trying to make as much track time available as we usually get so that the race sessions don't cut down on FCA track time.

Unfortunately, because I sold the Mondi, I won't be up there for the July 22 and 23 event (no F-car to run). But I will definitely be at LRP with the Corvette for Labor Day weekend.

If you can post a link to some of those "cheap" track events, that would be great. Always up for less expensive track time. Pocono is always less expensive than the other tracks. LRP has just gotten ridiculous on their rates, forcing clubs to up the cost. So if you know of groups running cheaper events, please share the wealth and post the links for upcoming events. I wasn't being confrontational in my last post. I was honestly asking for info because the price of these events keeps going up every year.
