Please, I am begging, someone help me get Limewire off of my computer! My wife downloaded it and now it won't go away. I have uninstalled it in the control panel but I get a pop up about every 45 (theres another one) seconds. Please help me. Also, is there a relatively inexpensive spyware program that I can get? This is getting ridiculous.

add superantispyware to the list as well.

    Reformatting kills it dead.

If your wife is downloading questionable content through torrents be sure to install Peer Guardian 2. If you are paranoid set the torrent trackers to run through a proxy and Tor.

    No doubt!.......

There's got to be a better way though - Hasn't there? Nothing on their site about getting rid of it?

    Cheers,

The popups usually don't have anything to do with Limewire but with the malware that came through it. ATF Cleaner from atribune.org, shut off system restore (google it), malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org, update, disconnect from internet, run, re-boot, run again - full scan. Superantispyware from superantispyware.com - update, full scan. Back online. Eset.com - run free online antivirus scan. Post again if you need more.

He's right. I was dealing with this about a year ago when I took my sisters old broken laptop off her hands. After I fixed it, uninstalled limewire and a bunch of other stuff. Ran a lot of anti spyware programs, that fixed it.

I have become lazy though, if trouble shooting takes me more than 20 minutes or so I just reformat.
