Limos service is available at Ft. Lauderdale airport (lower level). Max waiting time is 30 minutes.

Correct, only for personal usage. I am insured for personal use, not for business purposes. So, I can not rent it out.

In addition, it gets trickier at airports, major arenas, etc, since car services operating for profit must be licensed to do business and display their business decal on the window to avoid getting a ticket for operating a business without proper licensing. I do have documentation with my driver to alert the authorities that it is a private coach, and not for business purposes, but that could be a hasstle to deal with if I am not there.

Fred, I think you would be ok as long as the passengers were willing to say they are friends of yours. Obviously I wouldnt be able to pick up a client and ask my clients to say they are friends of mine. That would look a little shady to my customers. Palm beach has virtualy no enforcement, Broward has some enforcement and Dade county has extreme enforcement. Dade County Consumer affairs are at the airport all the time. And they even stake out the hotels in miami Beach. I think its a $1500.00 fine. But like I said if your driver says the car is for personal use. They will then ask the passengers if they are indeed friends of yours. And if they are paying for any kind of service. As long as they answer those questions correctly. You should be fine to pick up friends at the airport or anywhere else with a private car. You could call Broward County Consumer affairs to verify at 954-357-5324 ask for Joan.

Yes, the driver, passengers, etc would all need to answer the questons correctly to assure it was only private usage. In addition, I have a notarized document with the driver that also specifies private usage. Futhermore, the title, insurance and all documentation specify private usage.

However, the risk of being caught up in a quagmire like that if something happened, combined with the risk of dealing with insurance if anything went wrong, would just be a huge PITA.....
