LIndner-nocker E-type:questions

I always liked the low drag coupes
so eagerly read about the restoration of the Lindner-Nocker car that crashed in France.
But when I read it cost 5 million pounds to restore it, I wonder if the finished car could possibly be worth that?
Also about the straightening out of the crumpled body panels. I don't know much about aluminum but wouldn't it be easier to pound out new panels than first straighten and then recurve crumpled panels?
Does the Jaguar racing fraternity accept this car as a restored original?

Also I read two accounts, that a Frenchman discovered it 10 years after it was impounded and another that it was 17 years. I wonder who owned it all that time, what right does a track have to impound a car even if it was in a fatal accident?

 

Here's the reason for the question: I can't envision a Jaguar at $5,000,000 plus
so I think more was spent on the restoration than will ever be
brought back by a sale.

It's OK by my book to do a homage to a car by restoring it
but not if I would lose money if I ever had to sell it.

But maybe that's all up to the owner on whether he cares if he loses money on restoring it. Besides, maybe since the restorer owns a restoration shop, the expenses would qualify as promotion.

Not related to Jag but I do have another example of costs-vs. benefits. Jay Leno bought a Chrysler gas turbine.I heard the engine's sick and there's only a couple engines left in existance, so now he might have to pay more than he paid for the car to get another engine. For the ordinary person this wouldn't be worth it, but since he is a celebrity, has a website promoting his garage, it's all under promotion.
