Can a lithium ion battery create some issues with the car electronics?

Not that I am aware of, I run an AGM battery. BUT, the charging system is definitely not optimized for charging that type of battery and that may cause some issues long term; I am not well enough versed in that area to take a swing at any meaningful answer.

John, take an actual version of the CTEK MXS 5.0, this has an AGM mode.
Top quality for about 80 $.

The special connector for the 599 is available also, but costs about 70 $ extra.

Yes and thank you. I have a suitable tender for my AGM battery. I was answering the OP's question about lithium-ion batteries. My short answer, 'It would probably work but the charging system is likely to be hard on the battery.'
