Michael keen to see his son make his own way Mick Schumacher is unlikely to follow in his famous world championship-winning father's mighty footsteps. The seven-time drivers' title winner said his six-year-old son is not yet showing a passion for motor racing. Undoubtedly, Michael Schumacher is happy about that. But it's not the danger that puts him off, it is the 'burden' of the inevitable comparisons that the son of a Grand Prix legend has to endure. "I have seen this with Damon Hill or Jacques Villeneuve," he told the Independent. "I would want my son to be able to make his own way, uncompared. But if he fell in love with racing and absolutely wanted to go this way, I'd support him." Schumacher says little Mick is interested in many sports, "and I don't see a preference (for racing)." From Crash.net Just one of those off-season threads. Either way i found it interesting that he has no passion for at all. Then again he is only six.
And little else to crow about .. Ralf was awesome in 1999 when he took a very average car and got good results from it. Since then a few wins but little else - he has been dominated by both his teammates since
Imagine what legacy "lil schumi" would have to deal with.....not only a record-breaking father, but a "hack" of an uncle who is among the top-paid drivers on the track...a lot of pressure for anyone. To be any good, he'd have to be champion 8 times.....not considering his dad is still not ready to retire and is trying to squeeze a few more championships in. But if he falls in love with racing, I think comparisons would be but a minor annoyance to deal with.
Just as bad as Little Andretti, Petty, Unser, Hill, Villenueve, Rosberg, Piquet etc. It's no big deal anymore really. If anything doors are opened for you because of a famous last name, very few have lived up to the father's legacy but they keep coming anyway. Andretti had it pretty bad but did well buliding his own legacy other than the whole F1 thing, but that's been beaten to death
