I just saw this yesterday and it was a pretty good movie imo. Definitely some funny (sarcastic) moments and lots of action of course. Some could say the action scenes were way overdone, but at the end of the day it's a Die Hard installment. What do you expect? Btw, it was nice to see the Lockheed F35 Lightning II make an appearance. It's not in production yet (~2011), but there are a few prototypes and early versions flying around...

I also saw it yesterday and enjoyed it.

And I must say that the actor playing Warlock was a hilarious surprise.

Are they calling the F35 Lightning II now? The F22 used to be called that (or was that only the YF22) until they decided on Raptor.

I've seen it twice now, and I like it a lot. Def. a good movie, and up their with its franchise, despite being PG-13.
I loved the sarcasm as well throughout the whole movie. Def. brilliant.

    "Enough of this Kung-Fu sh*t." :D

Yeah, the developmental F22 was the YF22 Lightning II. Both the F22 and F35 are made by Lockheed so the similarities are there.

Btw, there was an E38 740i in the movie.

At first I was distracted by the grainy, blue-color adjusted art direction - were they trying to be all "techno spy" like ala Bourne Identity et al (which are great in their own right... but Die Hard is Die Hard). When they ditched the heavy Impact-style typeface for delicate, digital fonts I was a little put off. I got over that by about the DC chase scenes, but it was still notably different.

I do have to say though, as they tried to outdo #3 they really did get absurd towards the end. Like Transporter 2 absurd, and I thought that movie was just stupid. I don't want to spoil it, but during the the fighter jet scene in LFoDH I literally put my head in my hands it was so embarassing. It made the Harrier scene from True Lies look like a documentary. Not that Die Hard takes itself too seriously, but that was the hook about #1 was the grit, the pain, the basics of gravity. At the least, they made the final scenes tight and personal.

The villian was too young, too metrosexual and trying to effect a gritty tough guy voice that wasn't believable. Let's face it though, after Alan Rickman, Franco Nero, Bill Sadler and Jeremy Irons, it's hard to keep up on the villian scale. The fights with the Hawaiian girl and Willis were funny though in their political incorrectness, and all of the sexist, racist jabs by Willis to the bad guy about her.

The Kevin Smith scenes also seemed forced into the script, at least the dialogue was not natural. I guess they needed a Reginald VelJohnson-esque buddy in there. Overall, only 2 or 2.5 stars. Popcorn movie.

    ^^what a tough customer. :p

I do agree about the villain. Lots of sarcasm used by that guy. What about the fighter jet scene did you not like? I don't think most are familiar with X35/F35 since only a few exist and it's not in production yet. It wasn't that far off and the Harriers are really just that old.

Btw, I was in Key West when they were filming True Lies and actually saw two Harriers used for filming parked on the bridge we were using. They had production trucks lined up on both sides of the road (probably not a mile long worth of trucks, but a decent bit).

It was either a 1999 or 2000 740i. Silver with the 18" M-parallels. I couldn't notice if it had the black trim instead of chrome to see if it really was the sport package or just the wheels. Btw, it was only there for a few minutes.

Did you ever get to see Fun with Dick and Jane? They had 15+ E38s in that one...
