That pic of Schlesser is one of my all time favorites. I never knew that car was blue. It looks great!

OK. It's true that doesn't change the fact your car is beautiful...

    ...but...

Thanks Tom. There are so many examples of wrong liveries. Just crazy that nobody notices that !

It's better that the 8 is centered now than copying sloppy of center placement. Should we copy orange-peel, dieback, or shrinkage like the original paint jobs?

Who knows, maybe someday we'll even see vintage racing cars not only in their period livery but also wearing dirt, warts and all "as they crossed the line" to their historically significant finishes.

French Blue is not so dark. I'm sure the good colour for 2127GT is the pale one we can see in your colour picture.

This is a great exchange of opinions. All good thoughts. It's funny how different we all look at this topic. Looking at these old photos, if I was there with the pit crew, I would have been thinking to myself, "man this car is gorgeous. As soon as this race is over, Let's clean her up thouroughly, take all these silly graphics off that they require we put on the car for these races, and let's go cruse around." I'm willing to bet many of the crew thought that.

Very nice car - but, if a car has an intensiv racing history as 2127GT, it should keep proudly his racing livery. Sure, if the car will be on sale one time, it will pay off....

As far, as I remember, it was also described aus one of the very few aluminium GTB's....

By the way, thank's a lot Wayne for the additional and impressive period pic's !

The livery is the Scuderia Askolin's one. Must be 0742/TR...

0742 TR was originally red with white stripes on the fenders and only thereafter repainted dark blue with white stripes..........
at least it now has the all important Classiche stamp on the right front tube.......

For whom were these colors (red with white stripes) chosen? Who repainted it?

What does the classiche stamp on chassis tube indicate? Hope they stamped the body too! It looks modified, but still incorrect.

    Cheers, Kare

The white dots are ok and removable race numbers used when appropriate. Referring to post #22 if there was a judging category for cars restored as near as possible to their most successful original racing condition there might me an incentive, in this case, to paint this car the original"grigio" and the white dots then would have their rightful place with a #142 or #2. Having gotten my feet wet on the subject of these cars in the mid 1950s and 1960s, this would seem to me to be an idea worth considering. I cringe when I see images of restored interiors of award winning Ferraris of the 1950s and 1960 which in no way resemble the original.Just think of what the reaction would be if in restoring a Carravagio painting some of the colors were changed. I understand this is a "long shot" but when first tried could result in a whole new form of restoration.Having the wrong original type hose clamp or air filter takes points away. What about interiors or colors that don't in any way resemble the original. A judging category that reflects the entire car, restored as near as possible to its original successful racing condition, I think, could be a very successful effort As I used to say "just one man's opinion. tongas crew

Can only imagine how amazing this car would like in a clean solid color.
