This is the privateer car which indeed entered the P-D rally. Do they have proof it finished? Also, the orange LM002 is a factory truck, interestingly, built for the Belgium distributor, now resident in Japan. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The owner of the LM wasn't there, but it seems he told the garage owner that it did indeed finish... Making it probably the only LM to finish the Dakar...
so far we have: - The red one #519 - The orange one - The white with stripes and Sandro Munari - The beige #246 So are we looking at 4 different 'Dakar' LM002 cars? Or are there 'only' 2 that have been repainted some times? #246 has black wheels and a spare INside and outside white, red #519 and orange all have 2 spares in the back and all have red wheels - could they be the same car? Like presentation - Dakar livery - after Dakar dealer repaint ?
I know the car pretty well since 2008. It was built by Garage Burnier in CH with the orange one. I still have somewhere in my Automobilia the original brochure they did to present their "Grale"... Back in 2008, I had the opportunity to buy it for 28.000 and made a lower offer due to its shape. Since, it was bought by the current owner who spent a fortune for nothing when you notice that everything has to be done again. I have nothing to complain about THM who did the work, but the previous co owner charged so much money for nothing that the current owner just wants to collect back what he spent. For me, it still doesn't worth more thant 25.000 . When I will be back in Belgium I will post my pictures. Ciao

I love the LM002 and these rally versions look fantastic, but the second photo reminds me of Winnie the Pooh after eating too much honey: Jonathan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Poor shape, so much work to invest in order to finish it, does it worth to be rebuilt ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The VIN Code was the one of Madam Minram's personnal LM. I don't know which one of the 2 brothers (Jean-Claude or Patrick) she was the wife !
Not unusual for a European market Lamborghini from the eighties, on most of these cars the 5th till 9th digit is an 0.
I know this is an old post but for the sake of accuracy. All US versions had bumpers and many non US, non "Americans" did as well. The last ones were not "Americans". US version standard models and "Americans" were built at the same time and in fact most if not all of the last 20 built were standard models. Also fuel injected standard models and carb'd models were built at the same time for different markets. American was an optional package and did not replace the standard version.

L702 - ??? The 5.2L engines were named as L507/L520i The marine V12 were L900. The rumor was that the car had an engine changed in 1990s, hence it runs Diablo expansion tank. But I suppose that L702 more likely means a 7.2L engine from LM004 (that was removed from the car). The car has EFI type chassis reinforcements.
Both 12046 and 12047 were built as standard carbed trucks. That picture of 12046 shows it to have what looks like a FI LM002 motor converted to CIS. It had a motor change at some time.
