Tonights progress An ignition switch mis-wire which had power on to the injectors at the off and accessory position and no power at the start and run positions - fixed Fuel delivery - fuel's getting to the injectors and the injectors are pulsing Spark - one bad power supply to one coil , fixed , we have spark JUST not at the right time ! We have a timing issue to trace, the boys working on it now , we're getting closer.
We pulled out all the spark plugs and cranked the engine to check for spark. 2 out of 6 plugs on each bank have a strong spark, 2 are intermittent and 2 will fire when the starter just comes on and just comes off, I suspect we have a voltage drop affecting the ECUs We're trying again with the ECUs on an independent battery from the starter.
On an independent battery for the ECU we now have good spark on all 12 plugs, putting the plugs back in and trying a start.
No start, the engine is kicking against the starter motor which means there's an ignition timing problem
Taffy, tomorrow they're going to double check all the sensors , a physical check on top dead centre with the borescope and change the distributor cap but it's looking like an ECU problem. One of the ECUs won't shut off the fuel pump when the line is pressurized , the other ECU will
Anyone here tried KMS MD35 ECU ? https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.310099315762897.58378.273800646059431&type=3 https://www.facebook.com/KronenburgManagementSystems
Confirmed , dead ECU on the left cylinder bank no signal to all 6 injectors and only 5 out of 6 firing on the right bank
I decided to go with Haltech PS2000 Platinum Sport 2000 | Haltech - Engine Management Systems Asia | Haltech - Engine Management Systems
Will be interested how the Haltech works out, was also looking at this for my 308, if the original plan of mechanical injection does not work out. They look like solid product at a sensible price.
Hi Simon, The Haltech guy will look at my car/engine tonight, will definitely post the progress here.
While waiting for the Haltech, I found this Resin 1/18 LM002 EFI model No 06/99. The store owner got 2 from Hong Kong and he saved one for me. Quite a detailed model (but with non-opening hood). I'm itching to convert it to RHD and paint it flat black Image Unavailable, Please Login
The local store ordered it from HK ... down here it cost me $345 He ordered two units, no 06 and no 14, but unfortunately no 14 was broken during shipping. He said there are 99 red LM002 americana EFI model and 99 white LM002 with steel wheel model
My God, What do they spray on the roads? rust and electrical contact killer ? J/k. Good luck, I'm sure it will look awesome when done.
