Just out of curiosity, how many people have or have had LO JACK installed on their cars and at what price? What are your thoughts on their service?

I have Lo Jack installed in both of my cars, 512tr and the 7 series. I paid $1000 for it to be installed on the 7series. They give you alarm like device(bulky old thing) that you always need to carry to activate the system. Personally I have driven without it to see if it would call me or not. Well, sometimes it does not and sometimes it calls even when your car hasn't been moved.
When I got the 512tr I was going to put it in for $900($100 loyalty discount)
but I found out that the previous owner already installed. I called and they said it is $99 to reactivate the old system with new owner.
I dont know about my bmw or other cars but for the ferrari, most of us(including my self with 512tr) turn off the battery to keep from going dead when we don't drive it so I don't know if the Lo Jack would work if the crooks somehow stole the car without turning on the battery. That would be my only cocern.

LoJack has an internal battery that lasts 5+ years. Have them check it for you when they come out to service your transfered LoJack.

We are an authorized LoJack dealer. I can even have them install at your home/work. Im in NJ servicing the Tri-State area and can get it done for you for a lot less then $995.00.

Yes I thought they were a lot less that $1000. I asked my local Porsche dealer, with whom I'm friends, about putting Lo Jack in my GT350 and the '56 Corvette, and they said that the "Friend and Family" price was $500.

    That was 2 years ago.

Thanks for the info-atleast I know the price is constant. I'm going to have it installed on my 328, how long do you let the car sit inbetween drives? As a new owner I was wondering if I let the 328 sit for a week will the battery go dead?

FYI My brother's Chevy Tahoe equipped with LoJack was stolen last month in metro Atlanta (Buckhead area) and recovered in less than 24 hours, with the two thieves in the vehicle, and minimal damage to the truck (jimmied door lock on pass. side).

I have LoJack on both my cars, and fortunately have not needed it yet...

I've got full coverage insurance and a Colt .45.

LoJack would be overkill for me. What am I going to do, hunt them down as a favor to my insurance company if I've managed to miss them with 7 shots?!

    I'm only half-way kidding.

I'll take the insurance payout, thank you very much.

...Though I'd consider LoJack if I had to live in an area that wouldn't insure my car...heck, I'd even let the police do the car-tracking if it came to that (presuming an effective police force in such an area). Why should I bother with such things.
