I live in Manhattan Beach and I have to say that I do not know of any exotic car meets in the area. There are a few places like Ricky & Ronnie's (on Sepulveda and Normandie in Torrance) on Friday nights, Ruby's in Redondo Beach on Fridays throughout the summer and the Starbucks gathering on Saturday mornings on Anza and 190th... but these gatherings are for classic musclecars and hot rods.

I try to make the cruise down to Crystal Cove once every other month. Let me know if you hear of aby gatherings.

    Jay,

I've been told by several people that a few Ferraris meet at or near the Lunada Bay shopping center every Sunday about noon. The guy that first told me said it's mostly classic f-cars and guys with a lot of knowledge, but I haven't gone yet. If you search for Lunada you'll see a thread I started awhile back about it. I've been to Ruby's on Friday late afternoon and as Viper 10 said, it's all about hot rods- not that f-cars aren't welcome.

Please let me know if you find out any more about Lunada Bay gathering...

    Regards,

    Eric

    Hey guys,

I'm also in the area and it would be great if anyone can find out more information. Yes, I've seen mostly hot rod gatherings around South Bay. It's great to hear from fellow F-chat enthusiasts in this area!

We should start something like a CC in a parking lot somewhere around here. CC is nice, however I know that there a lot of F cars around here too! If we all work together we could probably do it! Even if it is once a month!

    Hey SoBay'ers

I remember several months back there was a Lampost Pizza F-Car meet. We can have it there again. Or, my initial plans to have it at my shop/office on a Saturday. Open lot with plenty of parking. The front is and open clean industrial street, no cars passing by, rarely on Saturdays. I had a BBQ last year several clients and friends showed up including F-Chat member "JackLA", a CGT, Stradale, etc... After reading this post yesterday, I went and called several F-Car owners about this upcoming meet, they said it was cool, and to call back to check their schedule You might have spotted their cars before (Rosso/Nero Stradale Palos Verdes area) and (Nero/Nero Stradale Marina Del Rey area).

Rickys and Ronnies would be a nice spot, but mostly hot rods I know that for sure. I spoke with the lot events organizer there (forgot his name, short guy, greyish hair, nice man), about having a photoshoot with exotics. Seems like exotics didnt seem interesting to him, the Hot Rods seems to be more in favor. Im guessing its the atmosphere and that 60's look would be ideal for Hot Rods.

Anyhow, let me know when you guys figured out when and where. I could help organize this meet, but im tied up for the next 2 months. Maybe around Christmas, I'll put something together and maybe my good friend Byron of [FDC] Ferrari Driving Club might help me out then ;)

    Thanks!

    Bhane

Or how about keeping with the PCH theme (like CC) or some other main street location. It also seems like most like to gather where there is a Starbucks location for their early morning coffee. Does anyone know of a Starbucks with a fairly good sized lot with plenty of parking...and located off PCH.

Starbucks on the corner of PCH and Aviation. Big parking lot, probably empty early in the morning.

Yes, that's a great location and probably easy to get to from all directions. To do it properly, I guess the first step is to talk to the property manager about such a gathering.

    Cyrus,
Just got off the phone with the property manager at this location. I stated that we may want to do this every other week and he did not go for it. His big concern is the parking issue since his tenants expect to have empty parking spaces for the clients...yes, the biggest tenant being Starbucks. Starbucks peak hours are 7-9am timeframe and combined with the drive-thru, there will be lots of traffic at this time. Not to mention that Ralph's is 24 hrs.

In addition, he stated that he is about to tear up the asphalt at this location and redo the whole parking lot. He's done car shows before with some success but it sounded like those yearly car shows.

He suggested Rocky Cola across the street with extra parking at the church. Or possibly even doing it at the church parking lot. I will update you as things develop.

Yeah, that parking lot w/ Starbucks/Ralphs is NOT Ferrari friendly- I don't even go there anymore as they have a few wicked speedbumps that scrape bottom of car.

Why not do it in Ruby's parking lot on weekend- nice ocean breeze, plenty of parking (I think there may be slight charge to park, but those that don't want to pay can generally find parking right on Harbor Drive, especially winter time.

I'd prefer to go somewhere near ocean, not inland as this is the South Bay after all.

Also, it doesn't seem like there are many South Bay folks on f-chat with f-cars; I see alot of f-cars around though. I guess I have to be more diligent about wearing my f-chat t-shirt out and about to see if it grabs any attention...

So do you guys think we should do it on Sun. morning (vs. Sat)? That way we could possibly get some of the CC crowd if they wanted a change of scenery. Just throwing it out there.

I'm up for either Sat. or Sun. around noonish- Sat. would allow some CC folks to come up or stop by on their way home, like Jon.

BTW- Rocky Cola is definitely a mess- it's hard to park there if you just want to eat. And Sunday at Church.... well, there's church.

I guess that's why CC is so early... but I still think Ruby's might be good because #1 they already have a hot rod show there on Friday and it's not an issue at "prime time" and #2 it's technically not their lot but the Marina's and huge. I think Ruby's validates the parking if you grab something though. Obviously it's worked for the rodders...

Just called and Ruby's will get back to me. The property manager is a manager at Ruby's and they're all in a meeting right now. Spoke with the employee there and she said that they open at 7am and don't get too busy Sat. or Sun. Busy time is around noon. She suggested Sun. morning is better. By the way, according to her, that Friday night show doesn't happen anymore. I agree that Ruby's is a beautiful location so we'll see what happens...

    Some other possile locations:

    1. The parking lot at the end of Torrance Airport, the police practice manuvers there on Sat mornings but empty after that. (The cops can chase f cars for practice! LOL!) Anytime on Sun is empty aside from the go-karters.

    2. The Robinson Helicopter parking lot behind the car dealers off of PCH.

    3. The Best Buy parking lot is pretty big on PCH & Hawthorne. They open at 9a on Sat & 10a on Sun.

    4. 22nd street landing area in San Pedro has a big lot by the hotel.

    5. Torrance bch parking lot

    6. Anything I missed?

I like this one too. It's at the intersection of 2 big streets AND a Starbucks in the plaza. Plus, it's a huge lot that probably won't get much traffic before 9am.

Is this the one in the Redondo Village? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the parking there really bad? Or does the other lot have ample parking?

Hey Derek, nice of you to chime in here! I was able to get in touch with him (see #14 above) and yes, quite a nice guy. Do you have any suggestions or contacts at any other feasible locations?
