Can anyone recommend a local place for powder coating. I have some parts I want done before I put them back on the car. I don't want to ship the parts around the country. Looking for someone 10-20 miles from downtown NYC, favoring New Jersey, Brooklyn, Staten Island areas.

    Thanks,
    Phil

If you can't find a place around here (NY/NJ) (I'm sure you will though) PM me ... I'll dig through for the info on the place that powder coated my 308 vents. They are located in CT.

    Best of luck.

I dont know what your time table is, but my car is going in for its major in another 2 weeks and I plan on powdercoating several parts, once the tech removes them. If you have time, we could combine parts as there is always a minimum which I never seem to hit, but pay for anyway. I use a powdercoater up in CT who has done a lot of work on a car I restored years ago and i was very pleased with his quality. I plan on doing black wrinkle and semi-gloss black. I have a beadblast cabinet, if you need anything stripped first.

I used the guys in Maplewood and I found them to be very nice and reasonable but the results certainly weren't show quality.

I also used the guy on RT23 back by a small lake?
The finish was good but he didn't follow directions on a set of intake manifolds and the masking was horrible. I spent a lot of time cleaning up the mating surfaces. I didn't want the manifolds blasted with abrasive again because I've had very bad experience with that on another engine. He just ignored it. These guys don't build engines and so they don't understand contamination issues.

If you're not terribly fussy and you do your own prep the guys in Maplewood are fine.

There's another one Foley Metal Finishing in Fairfield NJ and he does all sorts of metal finishing. They did a bunch of stuff for my race car. They did a decent job.

I haven't found a really high/show quality place as yet.

Go visit their facility and look at some of their customer's work awaiting pickup.
