I had originally thought of reupholstering the interior of my car and in the end decided to maintain the original leather interior. In researching a source for upholstery refurbishing, I was recommended Jeff Rankin (954 560 1099) who does this type of work for the local high end car dealers. If anyone is considering upholstery refurbishing or repair, I would recommend Jeff. Jeff did a great job and was both professional and conscientious during the process.

Attached are some i-phone pictures of his work. The first picture shows the start of the process, giving attention to the sanding of the side and leg bolsters, which had some color loss due to fading and ordinary use. Jeff was able to match the color perfectly to the original color found under the seats and console. The second picture is the finished product of the process. You can also see the results of the console and the emergency brake. Many thanks to Tim Stanford for providing to me a space in his facility during the process.

Looks great, when you do a process like this does the leather stay soft?

The leather is actually softer after the process as the original dye is removed and the skin is then nourished with a product before the new dye is applied. In addition, the process does not emit any toxic fumes or odors that permeates the interior.

How much did he charge you, if you don't mind saying? My interior had a very nice "patina" but I drive the car quite a bit and I think ultimately, if I don't get it re-dyed, it may eventually go over the edge into tired and gross.

I also had a good patina on the interior of my car. However, at Cavallino this year I had a half a point deduction due to slight wear on the Driver’s side and leg bolsters. Also the interior was fading somewhat due to age and UV rays. As you probably know the original dye process was not the best.

You can call Jeff, if you are in the tri-county area, and he can give you an estimate which will be based on the current condition of the leather and any imperfections due to scratches, rips or holes. Jeff is very reasonable in price and definitely less expensive than a complete re-upholstery and you also preserve the originality of the car’s interior.

    Regards
