I think that this is a good place to put this. I am always hesitant to make recommendations on a public forum because I always feel that it gets lost in the shuffle and if I take the time to recommend someone for something, it's because they're super good at what they do. Nonetheless, if you need a guy to help with customs and importation of all kinds of things, here is a recommendation for my logistics guy and he is by far the best guy that I have come across.

In the course of my car adventures, I have needed to import a lot of things from overseas, particularly Europe. I have dealt with all kinds of people and companies that were recommended by other cars guys but some of them have been so bad. For example, I had a crate of parts take 12 weeks to get here and cost 5 times what they should have cost and I was livid.

Consequently, I have been searching for the right guy to help me with all of the customs, logistics, and importation hoops and regulations and I finally got the right guy. As it would turn out, it's someone I've known for 20 years. I just never knew what he did for a living. I could have saved myself so much time, money and aggravation had I just known. Anyways, I want to pass his name on because I know that a lot of other guys here bring in their own parts and even cars from overseas.

Please use Sheldon Serrao at PONexus. His email is [email protected] and his direct phone is (954) 551-1283. He has helped me tremendously and saved my butt when I really needed it.

I just used Sheldon again to coordinate some seats that I bought from an Fchatter in Germany as well as some parts from Mototechnique in England and, as usual, it went flawlessly. I will never take on the hassle of dealing with shipping and customs on my own again. And what's nuts is that he's even cheaper than if I did this on my own, to boot.

He's a great resource for the Ferrari community.

Thanks Sherpa, that is a great resource to have. Surprised no one commented on this yet.

I'm looking at possibly importing a car to California from Europe. Anyone have experience dealing with importation of non-US cars, specifically with regard to EPA/DOT/CBP regulations? Am I asking for a lot of headaches or is it not as bad as it seems?

I'm aware there is there is the 2.5% import tax as well as my local city/state tax when doing title and registration.

Any experiences or knowledge would be great, thanks!

Send him an email and ask. I haven't needed a whole car yet but I know that he regularly does international shipping of things way bigger than cars so I wouldn't think that's a big deal.
