I have a dream of creating a concours car show here in the Washington DC metro area. I work at Discovery Communications and we have a lovely spot for a show, combined with an area across the street. I am running into insurance questions with our building folks thinking an event of this nature would be rather expensive to hold.

Does anybody out there have experience with running a car show? I would love to get some feedback on logistics. For instance, my impression is that an owner by participating in the show is signing off on liabilty concerns. For a day long event, is that a true statement?

I envision a concours type event with Ferraris being heavily represented. There are many beautiful cars in this area. I have had the priveledge to photograph Duesenburgs, Bugattis, Lamborghinis, Ferraris and a number of other high end cars. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I want to get my facts correct prior to approaching the local government and my own company. I might even be able to get one of our Discovery shows to help sponsor and potentially film the event. Rides is the show I have in mind.

If there is anyone from the dc metro area, Sunday mornings from 8:30 to 11 or so, a bunch of car enthusiasts meet at MD 198 and route 29 at the dunken donuts. Its a good excuse to take the car out for a ride. Come join us and share your car with the community.

    thanks

Ken, Post this in the Mid Atlantic form also, might get some good local feedback. I have helped put on small shows for my FOP lodge, but nothing major. Would be willing to help in some way if I can just let me know.

Hey, funny you should bring this up. I'm actually planning a large car event at my school. There is a lot of planning going in to it. Originally it was just going to be a small gathering, now Its become much larger than I was planning. But I have help from friends, you just need to meet the right people who can get the cars there. Try and find a sponsor also, that way they can cover some of your expenses. If I didn't have one I'd be going broke. Goodluck!
