http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i170/mosharp/1930%20Ford%20Roadster/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ16 The guy I'm buying the '30 Ford roadster from sent me this link. there are some pic's of other kool cars too.
I saw the post in silver but didnt realize that it was a fellow Hawaiian that scored. Thanks for sharing the pics. She is tastefully done. Its so easy to mess these rods up IMHO but I would welcome yours in the garage, looks just right. Great Score! Two questions: Are you going to be able to run it without a rear bumper like it is in the pictures? How are you handling the shipping?
Hi Jim Good for you, congratulations!! That car looks like great fun. I love the fact that the car looks real, not a glass body on a custom frame with a Jag rear end. I hope you post some pictures of it in its new Hawaii home. Does it have a heater for those sunrise runs to Haleakala?.....;>) Aloha Larry
The car is comming on Matson and is due Dec 6, seems slow to me but??? My sife will have to pick it up as I will be in the Philippines . I don't know about fenders and rear bumper or fenders. Enyone here know more? Since this is a "real" 1930 Ford and is regestered in CA. as such I think I'm ok. That's if I'm reading HA 286-26.5 righ?
Hi Jim I have heard some discussion of the licensing and equipment rules for hot rods. I didn't pay close attention since it doesn't apply to what I do, but several years ago the local hot rod clubs got a bill passed through the legislature that gave the cars significant exemptions from the normal rules. I expect that you will be OK. I would suggest that you contact the local hot rodders to get advice on how to approach registration before going to DMV. You know the local scene. The how and who you approach may matter more than the actual rules. I do know that Honolulu has become much more strict recently. I hope Maui County is still more "Maui". Aloha Larry
Thanks for the heads up. I have a copy of SS286-26.5 which is the law I think you are referring to. I've been on Maui since 1976 so I know all too well how the "system works. I've got a Hawaiian buddy Fred who owns a couple of Rods so I'll talk to him soon. The car wont be here till Dec 6 or so. I'll be in the Philippines till the 16th. My wife is going to be HOT if it falls to her to pick it up. So far shes basically taken the a man is just a little boy with expensive taste in toys approach to the whole deal. ( so far)
