Jon Fields is leading Go Intersports!!!
+1, great finish.... isn't there a thread elsewhere on here about sports car racing in America not being exciting?
Take away the make the race look bigger cars and it was only a 19 car race. Caution for 20 minutes at the start because of the filler cars is stupid. I am not a fan of street circuits nor a fan of purported endurance racing of only 1'40". It was just a matter of time before the Intersport car would crater based on experience. Commentary was a bit off, they were commenting about the LMPC cars and how fast they were and Pat Long was keeping the one behind him that they were referring to in their commentary and pulling away from it. I need to do some times research because the Formula LeMans cars that ran last weekend were faster and better than these guys. The little bit at the end I caught on the tv had VERY few people in the stands. The F1 race should be a good one this morning as it's forecast to rain from 11 am onward. Only 3.5 more hours until BBC pre-race. Carol
commentators were saying GT cars have an advantage on the straights (power/drag) over the LMPC. at least, that's there excuse is there a significant difference between FLM and LMPC cars? tires/brakes/etc? I thought they were pretty much the same.
the "pole sitting" Formula LeMans car last weekend #44 DAMS had a time of 186.222 km/h or 115.713 mph whereas the LMPC car at Long Beach only had a time of 91.685 mph . . . 24 mph is a significant difference I would say. We saw these cars first run last year and they were fast then too and they had their own races, in fact, there was a "winter series" this year of three races for the Formula LeMans cars. This link makes for interesting reading ! ! ! http://www.formulalemans.com/en/news/ Carol
Thank you ... I agree mostly. The LMPC cars are especially a disaster when a slow driver can buy in and hold up the GT race!! The #11 was just awful (I think it was the #11, hard to tell the LMPC cars apart and the numbers are small), breaking up the GT race and later on being a lap down yet still messing people up. ugh. I kind of have my doubts that it was #11 because Bonilla is good and those cars are all spec so he should have been faster. Of course Marcelli could have been driving at the time if the commentary was correct when they said Bonilla put it into the tire stack when passing the pace car. Anyway, it's easy to be critical of filler cars but they need to do SOMETHING to fill out the field ... The GTC guys for the most part are doing well.
another great front running finish by danica...NOT! her post race interview was equally unimpressive...and why is it that a 16th place finisher gets an interview? she says she is looking forward to the ovals! i bet she is as her superior race package will go a long way to hide her lack of real talent as a driver. at this rate, the france family will no longer be able to "package" her as top irl talent. pcb
This is the ALMS thread. Danica is Indycar. But on the Indycar front: At least she'd doing better than Duno (as in Duno why she bothers showing up). Wilson cut his fuel a bit close, eh? Long Beach is an interesting place for ALMS. Having all those different classes on course at the same time always struck me like watching gridlock on the 101.
oops...sorry guys. i saw long beach and i was quick to think of the irl race. my comments stand regarding danica. i wish the alms event was a true enduro however...at least 500km.
