I am in the process of installing heads on my Dino and found that one of the studs is much longer than the rest. This stud is located near piston number 4. Does anyone know why that would be?

Utah - I do not recall a difference in length of any of the studs. The parts book does not reveal what appears to be any head bolts, although it does call for 24 of what looks like a stud from the block to the head, all of the same length.

Others will, I am sure, provide more help.

Rebuilt my engine a few years ago. I got a call from my mechanic one morning:

All studs start out the same length. Some can stretch quite a bit just before they break. If long stud is stuck in block, be very gentle getting it out. When I bought my car I had a broken stud near 4. Just below the level of the block. Had to Elox remains out. Good luck. Let us know what happens. A picture would be great.

I measured the stud and it is 118mm long, thread portion that goes into the block is 40mm. Stock is 100mm long and 20mm going into block. I am going to replace all studs with those from ARP which are longer than stock.
