FarmerDave, you may correct me if you have actuarial tables, but I think the average life expectancy for a man now is about 76, around 80 for a woman.

Over the last 50 to 70 years this has increased from about 65, IIRC.

With the rapid advancements in medicine, over the next 50 or 60 or 70 years, could one assume that a teen now should expect perhaps a ~100 year life span?

In other words would 100 years be a very typical life expectancy considering better medicine, nutrition etc? That's only an increase of ~20 years, about what we have gained in the last 70 years....

It's intriguing to think that my kids might actually live in 3 different centuries.

Psst trashy. If "they" find out that I'm telling you this, I'm toast. But the other day I was in the lab and one of the Dr Strangelove types was telling me it appears that cells have a coating that wears thin over time. This is why old fart stem cells ain't as good as young pups. In other words, your old tired cells don't reproduce as well as those of that young stud that your wife keeps looking at. But if they figure out how this coating stuff works, this changes everything. You might want to sell short those companies that sell life annuities.

I don't see why it's not possible.. in fact, with my smoking and drinking habits I'm almost betting on getting my lungs and liver replaced at a drive-thru when I'm 60.

Biotech is going to be huge, I just don't know when or who. Yet.
