(Alternatively titled, "Daddy's Proudest Moments") Today was my daughter's (Age 5) first go-karting lesson. What a blast!! I'm really excitied about how well she did her first time out. She turned five about a month ago, and she is a pretty small girl for her age. In fact, we had to use 2 padded neck braces behind her in the seat so that she could comfortably reach the pedals in the kart. The instructor started them out slow (there were just 2 kids in her class, the other kid was age 6). He basically walked them around the track to show them the line, then had them follow him, one at a time, in the kart, so that they could get used to going around the proper line. After that, he let them go, and I was surprised at how well they did (remember, at this age, they barely know their right hand or foot from their left). My daughther was very cautious at first, but she got faster as she got comfortable in the kart. The other kid in her class had some experience and was a year older, so I think he was a little more comfortable that my daughter was, but by the end of the class, they were both going at a good clip. The lesson lasted about 2 hours, and they got alot of track time. She's already looking forward to her next lesson. I hope to schedule it pretty soon before she forgets what she learned. The school we went to was Adam's Karts in Rverside, CA. They basically have 3 courses that you attend, then you get your "license". After that, I can either buy or rent a kiddie kart, and make sure she gets lots of seat time. If we decide she likes it, I will buy her a kiddie kart, and maybe buy myself a beater kart, so that we can practice together. From there, onto some racing. Should be fun. This definately has to be filed under one of daddy's proudest moments. What fun! I like the Rosso Scuderia suit and cart...... Not too early to start thinking about how your going to get her into the Red Bull development program......
Oh man! The pictures are priceless! I bet she won't stop talking about it for days. I think the first one should be your profile picture. It doesn't get any better.
All I can say is: That's Awesome!! Keep it up! You won't regret it......well......maybe financially you might, a little. But....its only money, you'll make more.....and memories made will last much, much longer.
Thanks guys. I am going to be calling the track today as soon as they open to schedule her for her next class... Can't wait. Dom
Priceless Dom!! Youve got a future heartbreaker on your hands. Wish her the best of luck and safe racing.
Woo Hoo!! Just signed her up for lesson #2. On Saturday the 12th. Only bad part is that I will miss crystal cove for the 2nd week in a row. Dom
