OK, so it's bad enough that the car is filthy on the exterior...desperately needs a wash which it will get tomorrow since it's going to finally be in the 70's in the DC area...but to add insult to the outside being dirty, here's what a little sparrow did for me. He apparently flew up from below (no other way in) and couldn't get out....he was frantically flapping around when I found him and lifted the engine cover to let him out. He was so kind as to leave me all kinds of reminders of his stay in there which will require some serious scrubbing to remove.

Ah well, it's an excuse to clean the engine compartment.

This is really a very original post :):):). LOL

I highly advice you to clean up the bird dirt before heating up the engine as such dirt is highly accid and would mark forever the intakes. Wishing you lots of good courage to clean up everything ;)

Look at this experience from a positive prospective, the little bird gave you a little motivation to detail your engine bay. :)

Bird droppings are acidic, if left on too long. It will leave a permanent stain and must be wiped off very very quickly. It will etch the paint to the point where polishing won't even remove it. Bird droppings leave stains on any surfaces. Take care of this matter right away. Also consider getting out- side car cover. And a quick detailing bottle. Wipe all areas surfaces with a soft sponge and get to work. Have a blast cleaning the entire engine bay. rub rub and rub and keep rubbing.

Jeeeez! How big was the bird? Seems like an awful lot considering he wasn't eating anything. Make sure you don't see nibble marks in your hoses. :) Wish you luck with the cleaning. Post the 'after' pics for us please.

Or at least cranked the motor and revved it up to 8000, then open the engine bay and watch a deaf sparrow try to fly away.

Imagine if you revved the engine. You would have scared more $h!t out of him.

I thought there were undercarriage panels on Ferraris (from the 348 to newer).

If you clean your engine - try Aerospace 303 protectant after. It will make things look new, not glossy, will repel dust and will protect (VU). Great products.

Maybe through the exhaust? Not through the pipe of course but the little spaces in the surrounding areas.

A cat crawled up into the engine bay of a friends truck a few winters ago for the warmth. It was not a pretty site when he remote started the car in the morning. Cats, belts and fans don't mix well.
