    Hello guys, I received a call a few days ago from the original owner of a 78 930 with 47,000 km, (approx 30K miles). Currently the car has a set of BBS wheels although the original Fuchs go with the car as well as the original rubber which are still mounted. Updated H-4 headlamps with the original lamps and bezels included. It is a sunroof delete car without passenger mirror. Car has been properly stored and driven 1,000 km in the last ten years. All service history is available. A new turbo was installed approximately 20,000 kms ago and a re-seal at the same time.

    He informed me yesterday when I inspected the car that it had a complete window out re-paint (paint is very good with a few marks and what appear to be polisher burns in two small areas approx 2" diameter).

    My challenge is the car is guards red over cork, however, originally the exterior colour was green (I didn't note the code).

    Does this have an adverse impact on the value and what do you feel market value is?

    I don't have an accurate valuation call; but I do know with the early cars in particular, be careful putting your right foot down in a curve; that could result in an extremely adverse valuation affect....;-)

    i have a 79 w/ 40k miles and the paint is all origianal (except the driver's door) and in great shape. i would be curious why that car w/ low miles needed to be repainted. also it has a color change from red to green which today would be more desireable. the color change will definately have an imapct on the value. if that car were prestine w/ that low miles and original paint, i value it betwen $45-50K. unless you get a killer deal on it i would keep looking.

    BTW, you don't need to watch out just for curves and improper throttle application. i was leaving a toll booth this morning and w/ a rolling start at 20mph, got on full boost with a slight damp pavement, and had that thing all crossed up left and right and almost swapped ends. real pucker factor moment.

    Thanks for the heads-up on the "twitching factor", I have a GT2 that has a mind of its own.

    CharlesE, I should clarify, the car used to be green, it's now red. The reason for the colour change was that he didn't care for the green.

    I visited my Porsche dealer in Toronto today and spoke with my sales rep for his opinion, he thought $35-38 would be a good wholesale number with retail at mid to high 40's. In his opinion the colour change does have an adverse impact in the 5-10% range.

    Possibly more members will chime in with additional opinions?

    I had no idea these cars could be had for under 40k

    Looks like I have another to add to my list. :)

    I had a '78 single mirror 930. It was an absolute gas. Dynoed it at 441 HP. I never really had a problem with it being tough to tame though. I just felt that it was fun when sideways.

    That oak green color (if that's what it was) is stunning on the 930s. I'd go out of my way to buy one.

    I think it would be worth more with a proper respray in the correct color, and would factor that into the price.

    If it were my money, I'd want either original paint or a proper restoration to the original color.

    may want to hurry. good early stock original paint 930s are going up in value. looking at low build numbers and the "supercar" status in the 70s.

    IMHO it is the next wave in 911 desirabilty when you look at the long hood 911S, 73 carrera RS, 74 euro carrera (and even to some extend the 74-77 US carreras).
