I am looking at a 2003 575M this weekend prior to authorizing a PPI. Is there a dealer on the forum that would pull a build sheet using the VIN so I can use it as a checklist to ensure that the car is as advertised? Thanks, Nick
Nick- Bradan is correct. Contact the FNA dealer nearest you or contact FNA directly and see if you can sweet-talk them. They are the only ones with access to the system. Do you think things have been added or removed? Normally, missing options are added, not removed. Taz Terry Phillips
Taz, The car is a lease return that is going back to the leasing company today or tomorrow. I have not seen the car and do not know how it is equipped and would like an idea of how it is equipped before I drive 7 hours round trip to look at it. It has been my experience with other marques that certain options are removed for either resale or retrofitting into another car. I've been burned that way before. I do have the VIN and will try contacting FNA.
Has not been much of a problem on 575Ms. About the only thing worth swapping would be the wheels. Everything else is too individual car specific and more trouble than it is worth to make the swap. Plus parts would be obvious if missing. Most swaps would require having two cars with identical interiors, and that does not happen often in 575Ms. Taz Terry Phillips
As Terry has stated, the modular wheels were swapped out on a 2004 575M that I purchased in April 2010. A resale dealer, who shall remain anonymous, swapped out the wheels before the car was wholesaled to another dealer. These wheels are quite costly. At least they were swapped out with original Maranello factory wheels.
Speaking of modular wheels does anyone know if they can be made acceptably round again once they are out of round?? Had a load balancing done last weekend after purchase of new tires and it indicated one wheel out of round and the machine suggested wheel replacement. Mechanic seemed to think it could be fixed rather than replaced.
Rick- Ye Olde Wheel Shop in Maryland can fix it. Buying a new one is pretty expensive. Only trouble is they tend to be pretty slow, but this is the best time of year to get work done there. Taz Terry Phillips Ye Olde Wheel Shop 6363 Washington Blvd. Elkridge, MD 21227 410-796-8400 800-526-8260
Got it. Unfortunately I know nothing about that individual car. Will be happy to go through any service records you are allowed to examine and can give you a feel for how the car was treated and what it may need if you buy it. Taz Terry Phillips
Thanks! If I'm able to get a build sheet from Algar, I'll forward it along to you so you can update the database.
I work for Foreign Cars Italia in Greensboro, NC... Email me the VIN # to: [email protected] I'll be glad to run the equipment list for ya! Hank Carpenter 336-516-3855 cell 336-294-0200 office
I'm not looking at a car at Algar. I simply was going to request the build sheet of the 575 I'm going to look at from them; but I took Hank up on his kind offer and am waiting to hear back from him.
Yes Hank, that is very kind of you. But that is a usual trait of a Tar Heel. (I grew up in Edenton, NC to your east on the Albemarle) Barry
