I am looking at a very nice 2006 quattroporte with relat. low milage (22.000), my concern is how reliable this cars are? What would be the yearly cost of ownership? Car still under man. warr. for 1 more year! Car has F1 trans.(duo-sel.) Thanks...........

The car will generally be very reliable.

When was the last clutch replacement? If is hasn't had one then expect to put one in soon.

Make sure it had its 18.5k service and the next one will be due at 31k.

Other than that just enjoy the car. They are a lot of car for the money right now.

I too am looking at a Qporte. As a replacement for my wife's car; an Infinity which has been totally reliable.
A salesman told me the Qportes F1 tranny can be a maintenance problem if driven like an automatic. I'm going to assume this means the car should be put in neutral at stop lights. Any idea on clutch replacement costs ? Anything else ?

He claimed aprox 20 mpg which is contradictory to EPA's 14 (!) overall rating.

There is one local for <$40k with 30k miles. These things are just so beautiful.

Clutch parts alone cost nearly $4000.00. Clutch, flywheel, t/o bearing, clutch position sensor, fluid, new bolts. Inside door handles and window regulators break often. The reverse lever is $750 and it will break. QP's eat up rear pads and rotors very quickly, thats another $1500 plus labor. The stock battery will leave you stranded someday soon. I wouldn't touch an 05 or 06 Duo Select QP with a ten foot pole. Its also a big car and you'll curb the wheels real soon. Lastly, the car is losing value faster than anything else out there in my opinion.

Which is why I guess that at under 40k with low miles and a warranty it would be worth a go around.....
