    Hi everyone,

Recently, a 360 Modena Challenge Stradale was brought to my attention. I wasn't looking to buy but it got me thinking. I was attracted to the fact that it's a low production car (how many were ever built? Does anyone know?) and the fact that it might appreciate in the future. May I add that the future value of this car is the only reason why I'm looking into it. I have a 3.2 Mondial, a 355 F1 GTS and a 575M Maranello F1 and I'm not a collector, I drive them regularly and I buy to enjoy, not to store them away nor to sell them. I'm very happy with my garage right now and I'd like to ask your opinion as to the collectability of this car, as that is the factor that may tip the balance for me.

The car was built August 2003, has 25.000km on the clock and comes with complete maintenance history at an official Ferrari dealer. Don't know if other accessories are present and accounted for, but I can find out.

Asking price is 133.000,00€ (one hundred and thirty three thousand Euros).

What do you think? Thank you in advance for your time and attention.

    Kindest regards,

    Nuno.

    1288 have been produced.

http://www.challenge-stradale.com/ might help you find more info on the car you've found for sale. Check the crashed section to make sure it hasn't been crashed before (not absolutely 100% concrete if it's not on there but it helps!).

Hope you buy one Nuno, I'm convinced they're going up in value significantly over the coming years.

Thank you very much, Bas and Ferrari 308 Vetro for your input!

Tomorrow I'll make contact regarding the car, as it's on a different city (I'm in Lisbon, the car sits some 2 hours north of me).

I've checked the Ferrari Market Letter regarding this variant of the 360 in question, and they reckon it's worth around 128k-131k USD (105k-107k EUR), considerably less than the 133k EUR asked by the dealer. Lets see if I can bring that price down a bit.

I love the fact that the 360 Challenge Stradale is a non compromise, track oriented car. As I said I have my Ferraris to drive and enjoy, but they're the "normal" mainstream models. I'd love to have a special, rarer, beefed up model as an investment (even looking for a car expecting future appreciation, I'll still drive it regularly!).

Hope I'll have good news to share with you tomorrow! I'll check the information put forward by the dealer on the ad and ask about the margin they have to negociate. If all checks out, will try to arrange a PPI before the end of the year.

    Kindest regards,

    Nuno.

I don't see how you can sensibly try to force US pricing on the EU vendor ? See post 3

You are not looking by chance at this car, do you?
    Challenge-Stradale.com - Ferrari 360 CS VIN 133063
Its serial number would fit August 2003...

Just because this number is floating around the net and is therefore often quoted does not necessarily mean that it is true! In fact, Ferrari itself never released an official number regarding the total production of the CS. The only thing for sure is, that there are more than 1200...

Point well taken, Jimmie. It's a long shot at best, but lets see what the dealer says.

I have found it via a different website, don't know if it's the same car (on the ad I found, they covered the plates):

Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale Usado Gasolina 2003

    Best regards and thank you,

This is 133771 as Mike just pointed out above.
From what I know originally equipped with black leather seats...
Though I don't think the price for it is justified!

    Thank you kindly, Maikel.

Haven't noticed that the car went off road. However, if well repaired and no bodypanels replaced, no problem imho.

Car was at a dealer in the UK in January 2014, was sold to a UK customer in June and is now in Portugal? 3 owners in less than 1 year? Don't like that... The kind of stuff that makes me suspicious.

The dealer, as I suspected, is pricing it too high. Bought it for around 99.000€ and is now asking in excess of 133.000€. A good opportunity to test my bargaining skills!

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

I agree, all work is done by a well known Ferrari dealer in Germany so you can assume it's done the correct way. Also remember this incident happened 11 years ago, it's not recent. Here's the complete report as it was sent to me:

"In 2003 this CS went into a gravel pit during a drivers training but there was no substantial damage aside from stone chips to the left side of the car and undertray. The affected panels were repainted and the left wing mirror, wheels and windscreen were replaced even though they were only lightly chipped (all work done by Gohm Ferrari Germany)."

The car was for sale in January 2014 in Germany at Autohaus Gohm (25k km's / €99k). It was then imported to the UK and went to a new owner in June 2014.

Not sure if this car is in Portugal now. It looks like it's offered for sale in Portugal by a car import company "MBM Mobile - Importação Automóvel". Maybe the car is still in the UK at the moment and they will import it when you buy?

It seems someone has beat me to it, didn't even get the chance to negociate it. It seems I'll have to wait for another deal to come along.

Thank you kindly to each and everyone of you for your time, feedback and attention.

    Best regards,

    Nuno.

On 4/21/2012 CARFAX reports Washington damage report, accident reported, vehicle involved in rear-end collision with another motor vehicle, airbags did not deploy.

    Whats that?
